August 2009
A blend of 13 varieties and needs at least an hour opening to become fully expressive. Crystallised lemon, ginger, honey, creamy exotic fruits, peach and vanilla. A richness in texture and extremely elegant. High residual sugar but a steely backbone gives the impression of less.http://www.spittoon.biz/premier_cru_or_not_premier_cru.html

resplendent with a smoky dimension that melds well with the lime, the creamy apple flavours and delicate spritz. Excellent long length. Delicious.http://www.spittoon.biz/two_australian_rieslings.html

Howard Park Riesling 2008

The latest release from the cracking Howard Park stable. Oily lime skins explodes from the glass, mirrored on the palate too. Add a heafty dose of citrus acidity and a crisp, spritzy finish and mingle in some delicate, tropical fruit notes and a sherbet finish and you have a delicious whole.http://www.spittoon.biz/two_australian_rieslings.html

July 2009
Clean and fresh aroma, lovely textural quality to the palate. Not overly oaked. Again aromatics are important. A softness to the palate. A spicy note adds interest.http://www.spittoon.biz/plunkett_fowles.html

Great concentration and depth but also balanced with a lovely black fruit intensity on the finish. "not overly ripe, aiming for a more refined perfume and aromatics, allowing the flavours of the region to shine through". Juicy, food-loving palate with hints of mint and underlying spice. http://www.spittoon.biz/plunkett_fowles.html

berry-led, full, rounded, smooth tannins and long, long inky finish. Delicious on its own but highly improved with food. An artisanal steak pie and (oven) chips was a lovely pairing. When matched with this hearty dish a delightful red-berry crispness shines through. Another plus for the grape mix: Castelao (Periquita), Camarate, Tinta Miuda and Touriga Nacional. Perfect for a mid-week slurp. http://www.spittoon.biz/dont_judge_a_bottle_by_its_lab.html

June 2009
A wine with character - gorgeous generous, black fruits and tobacco. A wine "that refuses to behave in the mouth". A blend of Grenache, Carignan, Mourvedre.

A blend of white and red varieties Carricante, Inzolia, Catarratto, Nerello Mascalese, Alicante,... 100% natural, no added sulphites; non-filtered. With the aroma evolving with every sip it was clear the wine is different (and doesn't hold up well after a day being open). The volcanic soils that give the grape a foothold on the mountainside also supply individuality - a combination of freshness and a Pinot Noir-like lightness that gives sweet rose-hips and darker, mixed fruit jam, gives way to darker, blacker fruit flavours and a tannic structure

Unusual in the extreme; a blend of Grenache Blanc and Maccabeu that is so distinctive on the nose that my initial reaction was met with hoots of laughter by those who had already tried it! Extremely 'cider-like', straw, apples, hawthorn, pears. Weighty, Exceptionally long aftertaste. Distinctive and I'm sure will have its detractors but, after initial scepticism, enjoyment ensued to the extent of drinking a glass or two http://www.spittoon.biz/artisan_vine_londons_best_wine.html

A wonderful 100% Chardonnay. Palate has a richness that is quite delicious, barrel fermented, lovely texture, a big wine with elegance and structure. Touch of ripening strawberry to the flavour. Delicious.http://www.spittoon.biz/artisan_vine_londons_best_wine.html
