    vinmok's Review:

If a white were a red, this would be it. A very nice full-bodied wine, that is surprisingly sweet and floral. It's got subtle hints of toasted oak, berries, and blackcurrant. It has round tannins, so it was smooth, being barely astringent at all, which is a surprise, considering it tasted like quite a heavy wine. Definitely one of my favorite wines.

This Chianti is what every Merlot strives to be. Out of all the wines I've had, I'd say this is one of the few that have such a nice vibrant ruby red color to it. I spent way too much time just staring at the wine, it's really quite fabulous. It's very fragrant on the nose, with a nice pepper taste, as well as a hint of rose petal taste. It's also got a watercress flavor that is oftentimes associated with Merlots, only here, it's not overpowering, and adds a nice minerally flavor to the wine. It's got average astringency, and it's a little hot.

    vinmok's Review:

I was pretty surprized by this Cava, as I didn't expect much from it, considering the price. After tasting it, I'd say it's the best value for the price, and I'd gladly choose it over a few more expensive Cavas. Spritzy, fruity, and a cool herby finish.

    vinmok's Review:

There is the initial sourness on the front palate that I find quite common with a lot of white wines, but it's not overbearing. There's a tanginess to it that I find quite pleasing, having an almost carbonated feel. As such, it's not smooth while in mouth, because of its bubbly feel, which quite works to its advantage, but the finish is pretty smooth. An apple-juice smoothness, I'd say, and not so much a Chardonnay buttery smooth. It's quite sweet, with hints of apple and pear, and a slight lychee flavor that you'd expect from a Gevurtz.

    vinmok's Review:

It's not bad, but then again, it's not all that good either, leastways for me. The "winemaker's notes" state that there is a subtle note of vanilla, which I find, from personal experience to be completely untrue as it was very much in my face. That doesn't make it bad, though, as I personally have an aversion to this particular type of sweetness. It's got a fantastically long finish, though, which is perfect if you like it, but for me, not so much. Try it, I'd say, as tastes differ quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I had and I'd have to agree with my friend's assessment that it is one of the best California cabs. It's an extraordinarily inviting medium-bodied wine. Somewhat tannic, but very rounded texture from the tannins. Quite fruity and oaky with a nice and slight tanginess. A fantastic finish, moderately long in a way that begs that I have more. Quite superb.

I had the Reserve Speciale Bordeaux which was quite excellent in all accounts. Light-bodied with smooth tannins and fantastically well-balanced flavor ratio with nothing being overpowering. Nice toasty oak flavor, nicely balanced with a berry and kumquat. Good finish, if a bit short.

A nice light red made from the Gamay grape. Smooth with fine tannins; nice fruity flavors with good subdued second and third-tier flavors. Easy and pleasant finish, if somewhat short, but then, it is a light wine.

    vinmok's Review:

Just to preface this, it should be noted that this is Coastal Ridge from Napa Valley and not the New Zealand Coastal Ridge. This is an affordable wine that is average overall, but good for its price class. The taste isn't bad, but it isn't fabulous either. It has the flavor of slightly unripe pear with subtle hints of honey and sub-par butter, but for all its shortcomings, it isn't blatantly bad. It's quite palatable actually, and it's got a very nice creamy texture on the finish that I found quite pleasing.

  • vinmok's Review:

On the nose, it is mediocre. There is a very rich berry aroma to it, but it's nearly overpowered by an oaky/petrol smell. On tasting, however, the oak becomes quite subdued, giving way to berry and spice flavors. Texture-wise, the tannins aren't overpowering, giving it a slightly astringent texture, but a negligible astringency. The aftertaste I like simply because it's not a bad aftertaste. In fact, it's quite mild, lacking really. While this lack of a complex aftertaste isn't necessarily desirable, it is, quite obviously, much better than suffering through a bad aftertaste. As such, I found it quite easy to enjoy another several glasses of this wine without any objections.
