Added 19 hours agoVery similar to the '09, just going to paste my TNs from that one - This is a big, fresh, juicy, Russian River chardonnay. It is well balanced with apricot, honey, ripe pear, ripe apple, nice acidity and a touch of oak. This has great mouth feel and a wonderfully long finish.

Added 20 hours agoReally, really nice Sta. Rita Hills chard. Loads of zippy lemon chiffon, a touch of honeysuckle, bracing acidity, light to no oak showing thru and a fairly long finish.

Added Jan 24 at 10:46amExcellent Failla chardonnay. Layers of creamy lemon chiffon, subtle butterscotch, honey and just a kiss of vanilla and oak. This is a very well balanced wine, not overly fruity, oaky or acidic but enough of each to make things interesting.

Added Jan 24 at 10:39amPretty darn good for Virginia chardonnay. Decent amount of creamy lemon, not overly oaked but there is some noticeable and low to medium acidity. The finish is short to medium in length. There are much better $20 Cali chards out there but for VA, worth the experience.

Added Jan 22 at 6:40pmInteresting Italian wine made from the Ruche grape. Initially there was a touch of smoke on the nose but that dissipated into dark cherry and ripe plum. On the palate again there's nice black and red berries, a touch of black licorice, some earthiness, medium acidity and a medium finish.

Added Jan 15 at 7:03pmBig beefy, chewy RRV Petite Sirah. Loads of dark ripe blackberries, plums, dried fig, a touch of anise and black pepper. Dark and inky in the glass, the tannins are a bit grainy but not overly so. Light to medium acidity and a medium length finish.

Added Jan 14 at 7:44pmReally good QPR on this southern Rhone blend of Grenache and Syrah. Fairly fruit forward with red and black cherry, raspberry and a touch of cranberry. There's nice acidity to go with light tannins and a medium finish.

Added Jan 14 at 5:56pmAnd now for something a bit different - white Spanish wine made from the Hondarrabi Zuri grape. This is very crisp, with notes of lemon, green apple and key lime. It is fairly acidic but in a good way (think 1er cru Montrachet) with a medium finish but not a lot of complexity or layers but very enjoyable.

Added Dec 5, 2014 at 7:35pmFantastic Oregon chardonnay. Very well balanced with nice subtle oak undertones, creamy lemon, ripe pear, a touch of honey, crisp but not overpowering acidity and a fairly long finish. Most enjoyable!

Added Jan 12 at 8:05pmFirst whiff came out smokin' as in this had a heavy bit of smoke on the nose. After a 30 minute decant the smoke was gone and now there's just a bunch of really nice dark fruit, a touch of licorice, some mighty fine acidity and subtle fine grained tannins.
