Added 11 hours agoThis is really hitting the spot on this hot North Carolina afternoon. The nose has some nice floral notes and on the palate is plenty of citrus - lemon, lime, some (but not too much) grapefruit, zingy acidity but with a bit of a tongue coating finish. Very refreshing and very tasty.

Added Jul 30 at 5:45pmOpened this nice, inexpensive Rhone white for a little apertif prior to heading to my 35 year service award dinner later this evening. Fairly simple with a nice floral nose, a bit fruit forward on the tongue with lemon, a touch of green melon, decent acidity and a medium finish which has a little cooking spice thing on the back of the throat. This is a blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc. Great QPR for around $14.

Added Jul 27 at 7:33pmPerfectly fine Gewurtz from Sineann in Newberg OR. Very floral nose with some more on the palate along with dried apricot, orange marmalade and just a hint of clove. The acidity is nice but not mouth puckering and the finish is fairly long, similar to a dessert wine.

Added Jul 26 at 7:47pm2011 vintage. Interesting Santa Barbara chard from Lido Bay Winery. This pours out a rich gold color and has lots of apricot and honey on the nose. On the palate there's more grilled apricot, honey, a touch of oak, and a bit of lemon zest on the back end. This has a bit of thickness in the mouth with medium acidity and a medium finish.

Added Jul 26 at 4:54pmReally nice Provence rose. Light salmon color with watermelon and a hint of mint on the nose. On the palate is lively citrus, tart bing cherry, a touch of melon, lively acidity and a medium long finish. Very refreshing and enjoyable, and the bottle is kind of neat also.

Added Jul 26 at 12:05pmExcellent Rhone red blend from the Perrin Family (of Beaucastel fame). Decanted for an hour or so and it still opened up more as the evening went on. On the nose there was lots of perfume at the start which blew off fairly quickly being replaced by notes of blackberry and blueberry. On initial taste the syrah really jumps out with layers of ripe dark berries, a bit of earthiness, a little pepper a hint of smoke and cedar, small fine grained tannins and medium acidity.

Added Jul 22 at 9:21pmThis is an excellent blend of Mourvedre, syrah and grenache noir. Fairly dark in the glass, silky smooth, loads of dark red and black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, ripe plum, ripe blueberry, supple fine grained tannins and a fairly long finish. Not as earthy or funky as I would expect for a GSM. This baby seems to be hitting its stride.

Added Jul 21 at 7:28pmNice enough sangiovese from Remy of McMinnville, Oregon. Fairly fruit forward and a bit tart on the tongue. Loads of bright red cherry, a hint of lime and mouth watering acidity. There isn't a lot of body here and the tannins are fairly light weight but this is a fun mid-week drinker, might be a bit on the pricey side.

Added Jul 7 at 6:50pmInteresting Argentinian syrah. Loads of dark fruit on the nose. On the palate is ripe black cherry, a touch of smoke, tar, and a bit of heat from the 15% abv. This is a fairly big but one dimensional syrah that probably could use more air or age than what I've given it.
Jul 6 at 7:37pm
Added Jul 6 at 7:37pmThis is an excellent Sauv Blanc made by a winery in North Carolina sourcing Russian River grapes. On the nose is light lemon cream and a touch of green melon. There is also creamy lemon on the tongue along with slightly tart green plum, slightly under ripe peach and just a touch of white pepper on the back end. There is crisp acidity and a medium finish.
