November 2008
The 97 vintage was one of Italy's best. During our time in Sicily we picked up three cases of the vintage and it is pure joy to indulge in a glass. The color is deep red with wonderful balance. The nose is less fruity than the 99 which is predominatly fruity (blackberry). The taste is complex and full, with a long, long finish. Among the Brunellos, this is my favorite.

Duca Enrico 1997
We purchased this wine back in 2000 during our time in Sicilia, and opened it tonight with a pairing of organic beef.Color: Initial brick-red to orange-tinge.Bouqet: a fruity nose of berry and licorice.Taste: Extremely well-balance and light; a superb nero that one would not recognize. Cherry is predominant flavor with prolonged finish. This 97 reminds me of the of overall 100 point vintage for Brunellos and Italy overall. My only regret is that I only purchased one bottle.
