    veeownyeah's Review:

Not sure why wine spectator raved about this. Yet another dissapointing aussie under $30. Blackberry and dusty spice nose never fully left the rim and seemed more like a fine french dinner wine. Very drinkable nonetheless and subtle underlying fruit complex wanted to burst out - but just could not do it. Forgetable. End of story - $20 for this?I think not.

    veeownyeah's Review:

Cabernet the old fashioned way. Delicate berry and vanilla scent gives way to a slightly cedar/alcohol scent. Nice mouth feel is slightly hot and the tannins could stand a little more refinement. Lingers for a while. Good but not great value for $23-$25 Cdn.(try the J Lohr 2005 Cab Sav instead)

Bouquet is confusing and maybe underwhelming? Possible stone fruits and dry grass. On the palate, things improve considerably - subtle acid and oil combine in a delicate creamy texture while allowing a nice light oak to peek through. Petrol and citrus lingers on in the finish (in a good way). $18 Cdn (on sale)

Very cool bottle with fake dust and fake paint splotches and a squiggly dark green bottle. No idea what year it is - Per Anselme dont bother listing a year. For such a nice package they should have given more thought to the contents. A good dinner wine, needs time to breathe. It would be very good at half the price. ($49 marked down to $40 and yet should only be about $25 Cdn).

Mencia eh? First time trying this grape and it is worth trying again. Light plum and licorice with a hint of tobacco and earth. Nicely balanced with a pleasant mouth feel and an okay finish. Bit tannic and rusty but good for the $13 (on sale from $17.99 at BC liquor stores).

Smart deep rasberry and plum on the nose. Round, lightly jammy feel on the palate. Medium yet satisfying smokey finish.

    Quatrain 2005

    $44.71

    veeownyeah's Review:

Big and bold just seconds out of the bottle. Powerful dark berry and light pepper on the nose. Very nice smooth mouth feel with a jammy but not overbearing fruit forward style. Slightly hot (alcohol). The finish is what makes this a winner, long and memorable. Mmm I want more...(poor cousin to Mission Hills' "Oculus" it is, nonetheless, a classy affair - even at $47.99 cdn.

    veeownyeah's Review:

Basic but well done. Soft floral notes. Round, fresh texture with delicate creamy fruit showing through. Slightly off-dry, went well with pork loin. Good value. 13.49 Cdn.

    veeownyeah's Review:

Bright berry with light pepper and charcoal notes. Dry, medium/full bodied, well structured with moderate complexity, zin-like flavours and a touch of vanilla. This dry yet well rounded version is more of a food wine than the more vibrant Bogle petite sirah. Has a satisfying finish. Very decent value at $19.99Cdn, .

  • veeownyeah's Review:

Dark berry and pepper aromas reminiscent of an old vine zinfandel. Bright berry with soft pepper is also evident on the palate. Tannins could stand a little more rounding but they dont detract from a nice lingering finish with oak, dark berry and herbs. Cdn $19,99. Very good value.
