October 2009
Picked up this wine last April at the estate of Dr Wagner's descendants in beautiful Saarburg. Quite pale wine, with interesting vegetable smells, not entirely inviting on the first whiff. Very crisp, steely, dry, but with the typical "sweetness" of Saar Rieslings that seems sweet, but isn't that at all on second thought. Definitely one of my favorite spatlese Rieslings!

Very expressive crispy wine with strong hints of lemon and minerals in both taste and smell, but also a somewhat bitter taste not unlike grapefruit.Very light and pale colour, very clear. Some semblances of sauvignon blanc from the Loire, but also a bit like a chenin blanc from the same region. This gros / petit manseng wine from the South West of France is however more acidic (for lack of a better word). In a good way, though, if you want something very refreshing. Best suited to warm weather drinking (on a sun-flooded terrace ;-)
