Eagle's Trace Latitude is a big complex wine. This is surprising when one considers the method of making the wine...the winemaker does everything he can to tame this wild beast! While it is a wonderful wine now, this wine can only improve with age.

It's pretty hard to find a bottle of Zinfandel in Napa Valley for under $20. Especially one from a small producer. All of Pope Valley Winery's wine have an earthy nose. The Zin is a lively wine bursting with fruit.

This is one of my favorite ports rom the Napa Valley. It's very smooth. At Pope Valley Winery they leave the port in the barrel and just bottle as needed. At $20 a bottle (through the winery) it's a steal! Try is with some brownines!

Humanitas is not only a great wine, but a great concept. While you eat your mushroom crostini with this awesome Pinot, you also help put food in the bellies of others. A portion of all profits made from this wine goes to local charities. Dense,rich, and full bodied, this Pinot Noir stands on its own merit. However, when one considers the good work that this wine does, it becomes a rock star. It's a wine the nourishes the heart and the soul.

I've always said that I don't want to feel like I have to do a work out when drinking my wine. You know what I'm talking about, those BIG cabs where you have to take a big deep breath before you dive into the tannins. I realize they are all the rage, but I persoanlly enjoy a wine that is smooth and easy. I want something with enough acid that it wets my mouth as I eat my food. I want it low enough in alcohol so I can enjoy every nuance of flavor. That is Black Cat Cuvee.

I love this wine. It's one of my favorite wines. Food friendly, it pairs wonderfully with braised beef brisket. The grapes are grown in the SE hills of Napa Valley. Be on the lookout for wines from this part of the valley. They are widely undiscovered, but are very distinct and very European in style.
