    simulacrum's Review:

very good. a big wine--sweet but backed by the 6-month dryness of an amarone. we start with a mouthful of grape jelly and end with a bracing bitterness. heavy on the tannins; nothing subtle about this guy. enjoy with a big, starchy meal.

    simulacrum's Review:

yeah, this is right up my alley. thick as sludge, BOLD wine that somehow keeps a delicate touch, but barely. imagine a grizzly bear in a tuxedo. i actually laughed out loud when i tried this. very much like port but not in the sugary-sweet sense. fruit is still bright despite 17.5% alcohol. if you don't like your bottle, please send to me.

    simulacrum's Review:

Never liked especially tart whites until this one. Very refreshing, with a lingering acidity that keeps developing. Enjoyed this in 90-degree weather.

    simulacrum's Review:

Tastes like blueberries with the dirt from the farm still on them. Initial brightness followed by bone-dry finish. Not bad.

A very distinct note of pencil eraser on the nose threw me off. But well-rounded with many varietals: 40% cab, 20% merlot, 20% cab franc, and some others i can't remember. Just the right amount of oak with the initial bite but mellows out for a softer finish.

Perfect example of a "jammy" wine. Rich sweetness on the nose, super ripe on the palate. Good price for such a winner.

such a vibrant nose! reminds me of when i make vegetable stock and go a little nuts with the herbs and spices. this wine is weird like that...it reminded me of homemade pasta sauce when i smelled it. oregano, nutmeg...so a teeny bit disappointed with the taste. it's spicy all right but the excitement stopped there for me. the fruit and tannins hit hard but didn't linger for me, which is what i like in a zin. still, it's a solid wine and should be enjoyed with food. made me hungry.

    simulacrum's Review:

great zin. hot, with a finish that lasts for decades. but tempered by its juiciness. loved it.

holy moly, loved this wine. frontal assault with a long, mellow finish. beautiful fruit: blackberry, spicy plum. delicious.
