Hi wine lovers! I'm new to "officially" putting my thoughts down digitally so my reviews are from the view point of an amateur wine lover. I try wines that I think have potential and are affordable. Preferably under $20.

Tabenar's review is dead on. Except I didn't find it hot. Really enjoyable and inexpensive!

This wine is dark, dark, purple, almost black, and the bouquet is kicking off more than my nose can handle after an hour and a half, in a good way. This is a rich wine, well balanced with tannins firm and up front, I think I noticed the tannins before the taste settled in. I am fairly sure that this is the first time I've had a pure Bonarda wine and it will not soon be forgotten. This is definitely a wine to pop and enjoy all evening, with some good Italian fare of course.

Really nice Zinfandel. The Old Vine gives off a perfectly round and balanced taste. The tannins are perfect. This is what i had read about with old vines, something that is mature and refined.

This is probably a great wine for people who love complex acidic wines that offer many different tastes. This wine smells and tastes like a Cab Sav to me, and is a great wine for heavy steaks, etc... I however am not a fan, like my Syrah's to be more balanced and possess more silky tannins.

This was another pleasing Malbec from the Mendoza region. The bouquet was pleasant with a blueberry, blackberry. Color deep purple. To me this wine was slightly acidic with good balance and soft tannins. This was a very good buy and enjoyed it with hamburgers, sweet potatoes and salad. I would purchase this wine again.

First Taste - Poured through an aerator, I was immediately confused by the bouquet. Overwhelming musty, basement smell, thought "corked" immediately. But then it opened up more and some oak rolled out with some other hints, including vanilla that barely came out. Color - Deep blackberry color. Taste, typical Cab Sav yet lacking the tannins. Not silky tannins but very light. I thought it was quite balanced and slightly acidic. Tart. I am going to give this one a day two try, but not a fan at first taste. WOW. After recorking and resting til the next time this wine really came into its own. The bouquet was alive and fruity, Black Currants jumped out onto the palette and the tannins were close to perfect. After reading other reviews of products of this vineyard I feel better now, this is just a wine you do not want to open and pour.

This "young red" as described by the maker was very affordable at about $9 at Costco so I gave it a try. It appeared a deep violet yet not dark purple, not thin. The bouquet was light, fruity, nothing big. Taste was interesting. It hit my tongue like a flash, the acids were noticeable to me but it settled down on the tongue quickly. I noticed a lot of spice and the tannins were firm but light. I found this wine to be approaching "chewy" but not quite. NOT inclined after first taste to repurchase. ******** Tasted two days later after corking and restoring in the wine frig. MUCH better! I was surprised! Almost like what air got in tamed this one and I found it very enjoyable. Smooth and Silky. I will try another bottle with the aerator I just got. This one wants to breathe!

The winemaker's notes are quite accurate. Very dark, nice legs, aromas complex but mostly dark berry. Nothing real earthy to me, mainly new wood/oak smell. Tannins are very polite and the mouth enjoys a very round, full, and balanced experience!

What a surprise. After having a new Malbec originally this 3 year old Malbec hit me like a Cab Sav. I'm impressed at how much this wine delivers at the price. Full mouth, round, great tannins and finish. Have with a steak! If you are a Cabernet Sauvignon person please try this one!
