samantha gaw

Hi all - as the Ops Director at Snooth, I only get to think about wine after 7pm. Not that it happens frequently here, but I'm most excited to be handed a splash of something aged and/or underappreciated, like old Cali Cab, Cru Beaujolais, or Savennieres.

medium bodied, silky tannins, a little hot. mouthwateringly tart at the same time. aromas of violet, dried cranberries, very clean. sad that it's not more earthy. average finish.

medium purple, lighter bodied than expected for the color density. balanced, perhaps a tiny bit flabby. on the nose, oak mulch, blackberry, plum skin, juicy juicy dark fruit. quaffable. impressively smooth tannins for the youth of this wine. medium finish. nice.

most delicious New Mexican wine ever! but also, crisp green apple, creamy mousse, good balance of body and acidity, decent finish. quite quaffable.

deep ruby-purple, medium body and acid. eucalyptus and rubber tire dominate any possible fruit character. while this sounds kind of terrible, it's actually pretty decently generically Bordeaux-y and balanced. I would drink it again, but only at its closeout pricing.

deep dark ruby, somewhat full-bodied. velvety berry nose, with floral and black tea on the back. somewhat rough tannins. just barely tart, a decently long finish.

medium in body, nose, and acidity. a still-youthful ruby. graphite, plum skin, grapeseed on the nose. pretty lightweight and silky tannins for such a wine. was expecting more; perhaps it's closed?

deep garnet verging on purple. on the nose, I'm first confronted with the classic aroma of deeply toasted american oak - coconut, burnt toast. jammy overripe blackberries, berry leaf, white pepper follow, and a sip confirms mostly the fruit. evolved quite a bit after heavy swirling - more mineral, softer tannic structure. balanced level of tannins, acidity, and alcohol. a wonderful example of a classic american wine style (it's old vine zin, people!).

medium pale straw. crisp stone fruits and lemon peel on the nose, a lusher-than-expected mouthfeel, mouthwatering acidity lingers in the finish. good QPR!
