What a nice Costco wine surprise. Retails for $26 (?), see it advertised for $19, picked up at Costco for $13. Man, why didn't I pick up a case? An easy drinking zinfandel with a rare bit of finesse for this rather bold grape. I'm truly taken back by this wine which makes for a stand alone afternoon wine or a wine that can stand well with a meal. Lovely wine in spite of the high 15.5% alcohol content.

Though I have noted this "neutral" to taste, don't discount this as an up and coming Norton winery. Wonderful location with a commitment by its owners. This young wine was enjoyable to drink, but it did not exhibit true character of the Norton grape as with other vineyards with older more established vines. I believe with only a couple more years of bottle storage that this wine will set better. I've got my last bottle sitting in a nice cool cellar waiting with a 2011 date written on it.

Sure was good, but balked at further purchases with the price when similar wines of comparable tastes or better were available from the same region at nearly half the price.

Nice berry nose. Fun place to visit. Crown Valley is serious about their Norton wine production.

River Ridge Norton 2006
The nice aspect of River Ridge is that you get to taste and decide for yourself what you prefer, ~ Norton wines aged in Missouri oak or French oak. I prefered River Ridge's "Cynthianna-Norton" aged in French oak.

Unusally soft, easy drinking afternoon Norton. A pleasant surprise at a great price.

The best of Virginia's 2006 Nortons. Beautifully balanced Noton (90%) & Merlot (10%) with soft hints of oak and cherry. Aged in Virginia oak, ~ could this be the difference?
