Crisp and quite acidic with a distinct grapefruit tone as well as herb characteristics. This is full of character and not for the faint of palate. Perfect for an upscale fish dinner. I did enjoy the bottle for its uniqueness but would not buy again, it's just a little too acidic for me. It's certainly a good bargain for those who like their wine to have sharp teeth. ;)

The colder you serve this, the more light and crisp it is, like sweet ice and air. The honey stickiness and slight impression of apricot comes out as it warms (or serve room temp in summer if you want more of a thick honey taste). Unbelievably smooth and delicious. One of my favorite wines ever. I hope I can find a bottle of this somewhere imported in the U.S., as it is from a very small winery I visited when I vacationed in Australia in '08. If you visit the Hunter Valley, do not pass over this winery! It's not pretentious or complex but extremely drinkable.

A lovely white dessert wine from a small winery a very short drive south of Sacramento, California. For an instant it tastes like a very light wine, and then the tropical sweetness and a heavy honeyed mouthfeel explodes on your tongue. Not as thick and cloying as some other sweet whites. Great with a tropical or citrus dessert, something a little heavy but not chocolate. As it says on the bottle, also great with tart cheeses and sweet fruit. I will buy this again when I'm in the area, it's a real bargain.

Pineapple scent, cool, crisp, and goes down easy without being watery. Pretty well balanced, medium-bodied. Very short finish. For the price, it was a good bargain, but I don't think I would repurchase. Good for a semi-heavy seafood meal.

Strong aftertaste of kalamata olives after a mineral-laden dry wash of blackberry and pepper. Not much scent or body to this. This has the bland affability of your typical "restaurant red", and is a good pairing with a plain, healthy dinner of beef, roast chicken, or lamb with vegetables, and a poor pairing with anything too sweet or spicy. I wouldn't call it bad, it just doesn't suit me at all. It's very no-nonsense, not fun to drink.

Tart apple and pear on the nose. Bright and very flavorful. This one usually goes for about 20 bucks, and I saw it on one-week sale for 10, so grabbed it on a whim. Balanced but intense flavor makes it a great match for heavy, spicy hot foods. Dense mouth feel. Slightly astringent back-end. A little bit sparkling.

Domaine Ste. Michelle Blanc de Blancs Columbia Valley Sparkling Wine was absolutely terrible. Undrinkable. I was given a bottle, and so do not know what this usually goes for, but I wouldn't pick this up at any price. Bitter as heck, so badly it couldn't even be drunk when mixed with other things, like Midori or OJ. I forced a little of this down, and even felt sick the next day. Absolutely the worst wine I have ever drunk. Very dry, no flavor apart from bitter and sour.

Another find from Trader Joe's, this Shiraz is a bit watery, but a great value for a casual dinner. It's very smooth and easy to drink, with notes of blackberry and cherry, and only the slightest hint of oak.

A fabulous wine for the price (5.99 on sale). Overwhelming grapefruit and lemon, tart yet a little sweet, and slightly dry. A short finish. Nice for an exotic, flavorful poultry dish, or with a dense non-chocolate dessert like cheesecake. Very flavorful, and a light, unusual sunshine color. Not a big deal, but just to note - it's an extra tall bottle that doesn't fit easily into a fridge.

Tolerable for the price, but I don't think I would repurchase. A little too sour for my taste. As the back of the bottle suggests, it has spicy berry overtones. A short finish. Ok if you're just looking for a cheap, red generic wine to go with almost anything, that's not outright bad. Heavily mineral, with notes of black pepper, blackberry, and sour plum.
