Added May 24, 2008 at 1:09amNot a bad wine, but nothing really distinguishing about it. Medium weight, some oak, dark berry fruit, medium finish. The true meaning of mediocre. Not bad, just in the middle. Reasonable cost of about $20 for a Napa Cab, but the same quality in an Argentinian Malbec or a Spanish Grenache would cost about $8.

Keefer Ranch 2006
Added May 17, 2008 at 9:26pmThe first vintage that this vineyard itself made. Previously they sold all their fruit to other winemakers. Russian River Valley. 14.2 alcohol. Extremely fine and delicious. Light color belies the intensity of the fruit. Very raspberry and spice aroma and taste. An elegant style with a touch of minerality and defines what Pinot should be (at least to me). Expected to get better with time, but near perfect now.

Added Apr 29, 2008 at 11:24pmThis wine seems to have mellowed out. Still has crisp acidity, but the apple-y aromas have given way to a more supple and softer mouthfeel of melon and baked pear with a touch of honeyed sweetness.

Added Apr 28, 2008 at 11:42pmClosed at first, this wine can benefit from decanting. Ultimately reveals bright red strawberry and spice components. Medium acidity with light tannins and a gentle medium finish. Should benefit from some aging. Doesn't have the typical Foley Pinot aromatics, but this could develop with cellaring.

Hubert Paulet 1999
Added Apr 28, 2008 at 11:40pmSlightly toasty with aromas of nutmeats, delicate apple-ly flavors with a touch of peach. Pairs well with roast chicken.
Apr 28, 2008 at 11:39pm
Added Apr 28, 2008 at 11:39pmA beautiful Chardonnay, with sufficient acidity to balance its tropical fruit and vanilla aromas and tastes. Not heavily oaked, nor a buttery style. Elegant, with supple aromatic fruit and simply delicious. This will last for quite some time.
