Dec 4, 2011 at 12:20pm
Added Dec 4, 2011 at 12:20pmGive this wine a few minutes in the glass to develop. It starts out a bit out of balance (with acidity being a little overpowering) but as it sit it develops quite nicely. Noe still has the scents of alcohol but also has an underlying Cherry, cola, and tar. The cherry flavors in combination with the acidity makes the mouth water and produces a smooth feeling in the mouth. Flavor hangs on for at elast half a minute on the finish.

Added Nov 28, 2011 at 9:42pmBright ruby in color ( a little darker than your average Pinot.) the nose has a woodiness mixed with berries. Those berries come across in the first taste and give way to cherries, some oakiness, and a crisp acidic finish. Very well balanced with nice mouthfeel.

Added Nov 14, 2011 at 11:31pmThis had a funky nose and very sour taste right out of the bottle BUT, give this a little time to rest and you will be well rewarded. Much darker than most Pinots I've encountered I would say a deep ruby color. Cherries, cough syrup and alcohol on the nose. Nice fruit flavors up front and not the overpowering acidity you find in so many younger Pinots. A well balanced and complex wine that was very enjoyable over several hours of tasting.

Écluse "Prelude" 2009
Added Nov 3, 2011 at 8:18pmPrelude, nice fruit upfront with a slightly mineralality on the finish
Nov 2, 2011 at 11:05pm
Added Nov 2, 2011 at 11:05pmLight red although slightly darker than your average pinot. Scents of flowers (almost like lilac) and berries with a hint of alcohol. The acidity gives it a crispness all the way throughout the flavor. The cherry flavors are delicious and there is a little woodiness under the fruit. Nice long finish and no heat from the alcohol.

Added Oct 1, 2011 at 12:09amDarker in color than most Pinots (garnet). Aromas of wood and spice but overshadowed by the aromas of alcohol. Bright lightly sour cherries and spice explode up front with hints of woodiness and a gentle acidity towards the finish. A spike of heat from the alcohol as you approach a lengthy finish. Flavors linger for a long time. - Katie nudged me to give this a 4 rather than 3.5

Added Sep 24, 2011 at 8:39pmGorgeous dark golden honey color, a little hazy with some sediment. Aromas fill the nose with apricot and citrus scent. Acidity tickles the tongue up front with flavors of peach and pear with a little oak on a very long finish
