A huge Pinot from the Columbia Gorge near Mt. Hood. A fantastic nose of cinammon, maybe cardamom. Firm tannins, it may be useful to decant to open up the wine. At 14.8% alcohol you will notice it is not quite ready for instantaneous consumption but there will be fireworks in every sip. Lay it down for another 18 months to 2 years.

Foxen makes an amazing Sangiovese. Such a rich and dark fruit character, the blueberry really is distinctive yet there is a hint of earth and loam that lingers.

An absolute knockout wine that shows distinct Foothill notes of blueberry, spice, and dark cherry. A dark and mysteriously balanced wine that actually gave hints of a heavy-handed pinot noir. A great wine for a blind tasting event too!

    jjknight38's Review:

Adelaida is on the Westside of HWY 101 and well worth the trip. The vineyards are rolling at various elevations through a rocky and calcerous soil on some very steep hillsides. The topography alone makes the wines interesting and the Pinot Noir is an amazingly rich, full bodied style that nearly disrupts the varietal character. But what do I know?...Maybe this is the beginning of a new concept of Pinot unique to this terroir and I loved every sip. Plus the price point is exceptional and the people working there seem to amplify the harmony that is Adelaida Wine ;)

An amazing blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre(Mataro,Monastrell) in a very classic style similar to Chateauneuf du Pape. I think they are sold out so pick one up if you enjoy Rhone blends.

    jjknight38's Review:

One of the most interesting wine selections in the Amador Foothills, Zucca Mountain has carved a niche of fine varietals that fully explore the potential of this region. Sorprendere means "surprise" in Italian and the flavors are exactly that. Visit the historic town of Murphys and find out for yourself.

A great QVR and a nice introduction to Spanish wines. Not a dry food wine, but enjoyable. I've seen this offered as a different varietal from different years so I'm curious to learn more about this wine. Another Costco offering.
