A little too much alcohol on the finish for my tastes, but it really dresses up plain vanilla ice cream! [85]

Has surprising complexity along with fruit. Would like to see this one in a screw-top bottle. Plum fragrance dominates with tar and vegetal undertones. Mild tannis appear to be fully integrated. Although flavor does improve with a little air time, it is ready to drink now (stored at steady room temperature). Added on 10/26: Have had some of this almost every day for a week now. The wine entered a dumb phase on day 3 and 4 so I figured it just wasn't going to go anywhere; however, I was away for 2 days and finished the bottle today and in the 8 days since it's initial pour it has come full circle. It is quite lovely again today with plum, black cherry and cassis on the nose and a nice flavor with a slight bordeaux quality of tobacco leaf mixed in with the fruit. Score stays at 88 though as I consider that ""excellent"" according to CT scale.

Color is an obnoxiously dark ruby. Nose is coffee with candy-apple coating, black cherry, cassis with a little bit of tobacco and a hint of clove. Taste reminded me of black cherries, a little licorice some wood and tobacco. The oak is stronger than the fruit on day 1 making the finish a bit awkward, so I will hold off on scoring until a re-taste on day 2. On day 2 nose was less intense, but very nice. Finish was still a bit harsh though. Not a bad wine, just not as good as other Greg Norman wines I've previously enjoyed.

Solidly good wine. Poured a glass (Riedel Syrah glass) and sampled immediately. Lovely nose (plum, berry), nice spicy mid-palate and glorious finish. Best wine I've had in months (since Insignia in March). This is in a very good place right now. Highly recommended.

This was a truly enjoyable bottle of wine. As Jester noted, Plum is definitely the flavor that jumps out. I drank the bottle over the course of 4 days (vacu-vin and refrigeration), and the flavor never suffered -- if anything the flavors just blended together more beautifully by days 3 and 4. The nose was as powerful on day 4 as it was on day 1. It is definitely fruity, but not obnoxious -- very well balanced. Don't get this wine if you don't like the taste of plums; but at under $20 ( I paid about $15 on sale at Wine Library), this is a really outstanding effort. I just went out and purchased an additional 4 bottles. Highly recommended!

Opened based on Parker vintage recommendation, and comments here. Upon opening and a few minutes of occasional swirl, enjoyed lovely strawberry/cherry/blacberry fruit combination -- quite lovely and very ripe; along with typical cigar box and smoke. Color is a medium rusty burgundy with no obvious bricking. Almost no seepage in to the cork. Very well bottled - could have sat another decade. Taste was mild and dry with sweet tannis. Not much fruit showing initially, tobacco was primary flavor through mid-palate. Finish lasts a good 40 seconds or more. Mouthfeel is good, but not as much glycerin as in better vintages. Will put away for a day and try again. Tasted again on 8/25 and 8/27. On 2nd day, nose was gone, but fruit that was apparent in nose had transferred somewhat to the palate, making it more interesting. My third tasting showed the most balance of all with fruit flavors mingling with the tobacco -- but only while the wine was a bit cooler than room temperature. Once the wine reached room temperature tobacco was the overwhelming flavor. This wine tasted best when accompanying a meal -- it is not a ""drink-alone"" wine.

Nose of yeast, minerals, and mild citrus. Flavor was fresh, simple, fruity with pleasingly sour finish. Acid was comparatively low. Lightly sweet. [85]

After allowing to sit for about 40 minutes, nice floral and mild citrusy characters begin to shine through. Delicious, well rounded flavor profile with tropical fruits and minerals, dirt, and a very zesty acidity. High sugar levels, but not "sweet". Very nice wine . . . will be holding on to my remaining bottles long term to see how they evolve. (92 pts.)

Posted from CellarTracker
