August 2007
This wine is unfiltered and contains no sulphur. The production is very small and it must have been lovingly made to taste as delicious as it does. It is sealed with wax rather than a metal capsule. The impression on my nose was of brandy and cherries. The colour is red/pink like an old burgundy, but thick and cloudy, as would be expected from a wine made in this way. The taste is refreshing but slightly difficult with complex smoky fruits, well rounded tannins and a (not unpleasant) hint of carbon dioxide. It should keep developing for a long time. I hope to get hold of another bottle to see if this eccentric wine becomes even more interesting in a few year's time. Highly recommended if you are willing to stray from the beaten path.
