    happyrobot's Review:

A rose with a bit of bite - tart fruit and a bit of effervescence. This effervescence is lovely and I kind of wish all rose wines had them.Totally puzzling on the nose. Lightly candied cherry blossoms... if there is such a thing. Hints of smoke. Spice. And something really odd that reminds me of Beaujolais. Is it banana? Bubble gum. My nose is perplexed.Similar interesting and perplexing flavors on the palate. Clean and crisp on the finish. We had this with shrimp tacos and it worked well.Even though this wine has some really interesting (and puzzling) elements, don't let that put you off. This is a very lovely wine that I think non-wine-geeky types would like as well.

I wasn't really familar with the Poulsard varietal. Apparently it's a big ol' grape that has quite a thin skin.In the glass, the wine is very light with a slight cloudiness and a dull garnet color. On the nose, the aromas are a bit subdued and tend towards red fruit, a little spice, and some floral (violets). The palate has a pretty light body, and not a ton of stuff going on. Tannins are low, acidity is maybe a tad too high, and the flavors are like the nose - subdued red fruit with a little spice and an attractive earthiness. So, it may not sound like much, but I though this wine went great with food. We had it with a host of dishes from very spicy little snacks to meatballs and pasta. It's a very willing partner no matter what you throw at it.

A completely delicious wine.Smokey, meaty, and earthy on the nose. On the palate there is a nice acidity and ripe red fruit.

Rich. A bit spicy. This blend of Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Muscat is a great food wine. I am excited to drink more.

Really? I am the only person to review this wine? Really? C'mon Snooth-folks... you disappoint. This is a great wine and actually quite a nice wine to go with a variety of foods (we drank it with a 10-course meal recently (amongst other things)).Did I say "nice"? I meant "unusual". The latest vintage is 1998 (in 2009). It's a rose'. It gets a lot of oxygen and ages in huge old barrels. My first reaction is that it tastes like sherry, but with a note of red fruit. Good amount of body and slightly high acidity. Nutty (white fleshy nuts) with a hint of fresh fruit about mid-palate.Oh, and the label is just awesome. A really distinctive and handsome label. And being that it's had a good bit of exposure to oxygen, it seems pretty indestructible.

Drank this in 2009.The wine was probably on the decline, but was still quite drinkable and interesting. The fruit was very subdued and the acidity seemed a tad too high. The tannins were smooth.

Amazing nose on this wine. Big and floral with hints of ripe tropical fruit. Fairly round and rich on the palate. Very interesting wine.

    happyrobot's Review:

Drank this in 2009 and seemed a bit tired - lots of aged characteristics. Leather, cedar, very little fruit. Mushroomy. I'd like to try a newer vintage.

Fresh. Fine acidity makes this a fairly non-flabby wine (lot of "F"s there). A very good quality Pinot Grigio.
