Tried this wine because we enjoyed the Malbec so much. This is very much a bordeaux like blend. We decanted the wine for an hour before we tried it, and it kept evolving all night. Very complex, with the blue fruit, chocolate, and spices. In one word, I would say it is simply elegant. There is no mahogany yet and it is a 2006, so we are drinking some of the case, and cellaring some. With the bordeaux prices going crazy, I am so glad we found this wine. So far, we are 2 for 2 with this winery.

We had this wine at The Grove in Austin. Before we sat down to dinner, we had tried a flight of Argentine Malbecs (nothing in there to rave about) then ordered this wine with dinner, and are we glad that we did. This is what Malbec should taste like. The color is a deep purple, in the mouth you get the fruit up front, and it is soft like velvet, but more interesting than most Malbecs I have tasted, it is bigger, rounder, and has a nice long finish, which is rare in my experience with Malbecs. We bought 4 cases upon leaving.

My buddy told me about this wine so I looked at the reviews, and bought a bottle to have with a steak dinner last night. This morning I went to reread all the external reviews, and I wonder how they got there. There is nothing special in this bottle. It is okay, but I don't think it is anything like the reviews. Maybe they are just living on their reputation because all these reviews are old. For the $133 a bottle that I spent, there is a lot more out there that is better than this. I won't be buying this wine again.

I just found this elegant wine. We drink a lot of Malbec and some are just okay, some are good, but this Malbec is exceptional. Much bigger than a lot of Malbecs, it has a nose and a smooth and lingering after taste. The color and legs are great. The taste has all the blue and red fruit flavors but also I taste pepper, vanilla, and tobacco. It is a little more expensive than your average Malbec but then again, it isn't your average Malbec. If you are looking to step up to a better Malbec, I would recommend this one.
