Added Mar 30, 2012 at 12:51pmthis is Michele s flagship blend in the Bordeaux style. a real treat, meaty, with herbaceous notes, graphite woodsy can become an investment wine and will lay down nicely, this is grown in the heart of super-tuscan country and will give twice the value for a fraction of the price of the big boys. His wines seem to be absolutely different from the first taste.

Added Mar 30, 2012 at 12:35pmalmost everything that flows through this pioneer winemakers hands from his Bolgheri vines turns out magic, and this house red is drinkable in every setting. It everything you expect, well intergrated smooth and with that full mouthed cherriness. 2007 is the best of the bunch. Michele was the first to make 100% sangiovese outside of the chianti DOCG, Cavaliere and that will be on this list too.

Fonterutoli Siepi 1995

Added Mar 30, 2012 at 11:52amthis is a wine for Fonterutoli buffs, a pioneer wine as I call it. As its name suggests inky. its not the standard chianti by any means but a blend. I walked on the Mazzei Fonterutoli lands each morning when I lived in the area and came to know its chalky vineyards well. This is a wine with staying power. vegetal yes, with smokiness a little spice and tobacco and cherry fruit, its a big wine, and Merlot is expressed in its best way here. its a wine to pull out with a steak and with friends who are not new to complex wines.
