This crisp off-dry medium bodied California Riesling is terrific as an aperitif, cocktail wine, with fruit, cheeses, spicy dishes, light seafood or shellfish dishes. I would buy it again. I like it! AROMAS: lemon-lime, fresh citrus leaves, green apple, golden apple, honeysuckle, mandarin oranges in syrup. FLAVORS: confirms the aromas and add grapefruit, grapefruit zest and honey and light mineral tones on the finish. STRUCTURE: off-dry, crisp acidity, medium body, 13% alcohol, long flavorful finish. 79% White Riesling, 19% Gewurztraminer, 2% Orange Muscat.

An excellent California Riesling that is German Style because of it's acid, fruit, low alcohol and residual sugar (8%). It's also a wonderful cocktail wine but I wouldn't consider it strictly for dessert. It will pair well many foods like Asian cuisine, spicy foods, green salads, fruit salads, fruit tarts, fruit compote, cheesecake. AROMAS: fresh lychee in syrup, pears in syrup, fruit cocktail, honey, lemon curd, lemon/lime soda, white floral like freesia or gardenia. FLAVORS: confirms the aromas. STRUCTURE: medium sweet (not dessert sweet), mouthwatering acid, low alcohol, long finish. The winery calls this a late harvest wine.

This was like a Riesling Kabinett if it were German. It had crisp acidity, was off dry, flavorful and medium bodied. It paired well with roasted chicken and deviled egg potato salad. SIGHT: clear, pale, yellow-green in color; AROMAS & FLAVORS: oily mouthfeel, grapefruit, lemon, lime and zest, golden apple, green apple, lychee; butterscotch, honey, wet slate, hint cedar and pine.

Chilled, this Vin Gris (Rose) becomes a refreshing easy drinking summer cocktail wine made from New Zealand Pinot Noir. I picked it up on clearance at a local grocery store for only $5.69! What a deal for this Rose from a New Zealand region that is an up and coming area for Pinot Noir. AROMAS: strawberry, smoke, pink flowers, savory herbs. FLAVORS: confirm the aromas and add on quince paste, cranberry, dry slate, graphite. STRUCTURE: dry, mildly tart, low tannins and a nice finish that lingers a bit.

A great every day food wine for a great value ($8.70/bottle on sale). AROMAS: just ripened plum, plum skin, dried cherry and cranberry, savory green herbs, roasted black coffee, hickory smoked meat, cedar, mushroom, damp soil and leaves. FLAVORS: confirms the aromas and add on black tea leaves, graphite, slate. STRUCTURE: a dry red wine, good balanced amount of acid and tannins that carry through with a nice lively finish.

Steven Kent Merlot 2005
A dry full bodied Merlot that can pair well with rich savory herbed meat dishes, smoked meat, pepper encrusted meat, or with roasted or grilled vegetables like bell peppers. AROMAS: white and black pepper; stewed tart red fruit like cherry, raspberry or cranberry; fresh cut bell pepper, oregano, thyme, dried roses, earthy, cedar. FLAVORS: confirms the aromas and add in hints of graphite, bitter dark chocolate, black tea leaves. STRUCTURE: dry, full body wine with some vinous qualities, lively acid, medium round tannins, long finish, 15.2% alcohol. Although it's nicely drinkable now, it would be even better with a bit more cellar time.

Wow! This wine tastes pretty fresh for being mature. I've heard someone say that it could be the best vintage of this in our life time. It's definitely a sweet dessert wine that would pair well with stone fruit based pies, desserts or compotes. It can also be dessert itself or drizzled over vanilla ice cream. Or as they say "down-under, it's a sticky. SIGHT: clear, gold to orange color which indicates age, medium high viscosity. AROMAS: clean, intense, cooked or stewed apricots, canned peach in syrup, nutty, hint of pepper, caramel, molasses, butterscotch, maple syrup, vanilla, hint earth or mineral. FLAVORS: confirms the aromas; it also tastes similar to honey lemon candy and interestingly even a bit fiery. STRUCTURE: medium-sweet, lively tartness (hidden by sweetness), long finish.

A nice after dinner nutty sipping wine that is a dry tawny port with hint of sweetness. Would go well with desserts like nut tortes, pecan pie, traditional bread pudding because of its nutty aroma. AROMAS: roasted nuts, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves or allspice, cocoa powder, black cherry liquer; FLAVORS: matches aromas, the aromas are nuttier than the taste, taste is more raisinated. STRUCTURE: semi-dry/off-dry, low acid, high alcohol (20%), finish lingers so it's long.

Immediate impression was like milk chocolate covered black cherrries and even with age, it still had a lot to give in aromas and flavors. Wow! After it opened up, it was still aromatic and flavorful. Loved it! This can be enjoyed with and without food. I can now understand the hype surrounding the Turley Zinfandels made by Helen Turley. Thank you to Charles K., a friend who gave me the opportunity to taste this wonderful Zin!Appearance - opaque garnet red, evidence of some sediment due to age, thin rim, lots of slow thick continuous legs.Smell - red, black and blue fruit like raspberry and cranberry, black cherry, blackberry, plum, raisins, prune; hint leather or suede, milk chocolate; graphite/pencil shavings/pencil lead indicating a mineral or earthy component.Taste - dry, full body; taste confirms the aromas with addition of menthol and eucalyptus; smooth and satisfying long finish.

This is a wonderfully easy drinking Chardonnay from a great area in Burgundy - Puligny Montrachet (Cote de Beaune in Cote D'Or) - and apparently the grapes for this wine come from prime real estate in and between Puligny and Mersault. It was recommended to me and I don't regret it at all.The aroma and palate tells me there is hint of oak (probably neutral) and probably sur lie aging which gives it the creamy mouthfeel. The nice acidity makes it easy to pair with light to moderately creamy foods.AROMAS & PALATE: dry medium bodied Burgundy/Chardonnay with bright acidity, golden apple, fresh pear, brioche, lemon custard, pineapple, marzapan (almond), white floral notes, subtle dried savory green herbs like maybe thyme or rosemary, chalk minerality and vanilla cream.
