Wonderful Portuguese blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Tempranillo. Aromatic, with abundant berry and floral notes. Palate is lush and velvety, like a Syrah, but has the nice tannic edge of Tempranillo. Plum, blackberry, and blueberry palate. Spicy, slightly caramel finish. Nice.

Very nice Pinot Noir, with cheerful cherry, strawberry, and forest floor aromas and flavors. Not the depth or complexity of their higher-priced bottlings, this nevertheless manages to capture the fresh charm of the Sonoma Coast where the fruit is grown. A fitting farewell to summer.

Deliciously fresh and zingy Chardonnay, with terrific depth and richness, too. Very aromatic, almost Viognier-like on the nose. Lots of apple, citrus, and mineral notes on the palate. Very nicely made.

Lutea Pinot Noir 2007
Love, love, love Suzanne's Pinots. Elegant expression of cool climate Pinot, with aromas of eucalyptus, raspberry, limestone. Flavors are raspberry, cherry, chalk, and allspice. Clove and allspice inflected finish. Will hold the other bottle for a few more years to see how it develops. Biodynamic. Day 3 Update: drinking much more lush and velvety after several days on the counter with the original cork back in the bottle. Needs time. Best 2010-2012.

Lovely musk-melon aromas, with some white floral and saline notes. Flavors of white peach, lemon, and bitter almond with a juicy aftertaste from the acidity. I love the body combined with the acidity, which makes it as good a partner for a creamy-sauced pasta, veal, or chicken dish as for shrimp or other seafood. Terrific for the price and very distinctive. You'll be surprised Soave can be this good.
