The 2004 Domaine Pierre Damoy Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the better, if not best, Burgundy wines I have sampled in this price range. Aged for only fours years, the wine exhibited unparalleled complex, diverse and bold flavors. The aromas evolved from one sip to the next, as hints of berries, smoke and wood were predominant. The fruiter aftertaste and long finished balanced nicely with the higher acid and tannin levels, all of which blended nicely to produce a superior and unquestionably satisfying full-bodied red wine.

The 2005 De Montille Puligny-Montrachet Premiere Cru "Le Cailleret" is a distinguished full-bodied white Burgundy displaying hints of green apples, flowers and - perhaps just a personal opinion - popcorn. Certainly a vibrant and refreshing wine to enjoy with its bold yet amiable finish.

A testament to Sangiovese and the Valdicava winery. Their 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is a full-bodied wine that showcases the terroir of Tuscany quite nicely. Exhibiting notes of butter, plum and the characteristic Brunello spices, this wine is smooth but dense with a refined finish. An enjoy to drink.

Torbreck's 2007 Woodcutter's Shiraz is complex in flavor with it's sweet and long finish. Hints of leather and pepper are followed by notes of blackberry and cherry. It's an enjoyable wine to drink as the flavors, tannins and acidity are all well-balanced. For the price, Torbreck's 2007 is an exceptional value and a wine sure to mature nicely over the next few years.

A lighter, dryer Sangiovese but certainly smooth and well balanced with its low tannins. The 2005 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano presents hints of minerals, smoke and tobacco along with the traditional black cherry notes.
