    courgette's Review:

Got this at my excellent neighborhood shop (http://www.thecellars.com/ in Shorewood MN) for $8.97, on sale (orig. $16). Perfectly fine for $9, but I would've been disappointed at $16. Light, crisp, decent acidity, but that was attached to the sort of cheap, "candy" quality I find in some Italian whites. I don't mind it in a wine that's around $8, but resent it a bit in something that's supposedly worth twice that. Having said that, it's perfect for blending w Aperol & soda for a spritz ala Venice... or mixing w .5 oz of creme d'abricot, or .5 oz St. Germain. In sum: a decent mixer, or bland meal accompaniment; not an exciting self-drinker.

Delicious, friendly-- a great choice for a house red, and hard to imagine that anyone would not like it. Nice for solo drinking or even an aperitif, and a nice gentle food wine. A bit of black pepper, less tannic than some budget Rhones. At $10 from Costco, a real bargain-- worth picking up a case, for higher-grade everyday drinking.

    courgette's Review:

I'm surprised to see positive reviews. I found this to be flabby and dull-- almost "cooked." A commercial comment above mentioned acidity-- I didn't detect any! I don't think of Mendocino as a pinot noir sort of region, and this sweetish, monotonous product is pretty much what I would have imagined coming from that county-- alas.I think I paid around $10 for it at Costco, so not a huge loss as I poured half of it down the drain, but had I merely tasted it blind, I would have thought it a $4.99 special from Trader Joe's.
