Great food and wine are the core of my life. I love to travel but when I do it's all about the food! I'm looking to make contacts in the wine world as I am working to import US wines into Asia. Contact me: LinkedIn.com/in/TerrenceMJones

Added Sep 1, 2010 at 10:40pmNose of big jammy dark fruit. Pronounced oak with touches of leather, cocoa and alcohol. Heavy in the mouth, good balance, great acid, red licorice with touches of ripe black plum. Bitter tannin throughout throws off the wine; long reasonably nice finish. Nice with tonights guacamole burger.

Added Jun 14, 2010 at 2:55amVery uninteresting fruit driven wine. Much sweeter than I like and though a nice mouthfeel, I would appreciate more acid.

Alma de Chile 2008
Added Jun 1, 2010 at 8:49amMellow unripe red plum, definite earth and a bit savory on the nose. Full body but soft tannin. Definite restrained fruit and good acid. Some bitterness on the finish which is a bit hot (13.5%). Overall, not bad. I expect to develop with aeration. For an ultra-cheap wine, this is drinkable.

Added May 17, 2010 at 9:57amRaspberry and blueberry ripe fruit on the nose, lack of complexity but pleasant. Strawberry, blueberry with a medium weight in the mouth. Nice soft tannins, good finish. Nothing terribly interesting but very good for price. Better than anything in Australian at this price point. After leaving the bottle open for an hour, the wine gets better and better.

Added May 15, 2010 at 12:15amVery nice black cherry and subtle oak on the nose. Sweet raisin in the mouth, very approachable. Light weight and medium finish. A real pleaser without being too jammy.

Added May 13, 2010 at 6:04amImmediately after opening, the nose was quite muted with some dark fruit and a touch of strawberry. The next day, the bottle showed more fruit on the nose and in the mouth. The weight is very good with an easy to drink balance. The texture feels a bit fake, as if it were touch up with some gum arabic. Overall boring but not offensive.

Added May 11, 2010 at 6:59amAfter 1hr decant the nose showed a beautiful ripe red and dark combo with earthy leather. Not too strong oak and a touch of clove. The mouthfeel was great, rich and silky with a very nice dark fruit mid. However, there was a persistent bitterness from the mid through the finish. I've not experienced this bitterness in a wine before; is it a flaw in the wine, or the bottle? Perhaps too old?

Added May 11, 2010 at 6:47amSubtle nose of red bright fruit but with a deeper spicier backbone, maybe clove? Rich and mildly sweet bouquet. After a short decant, the wine lost its structure with seemingly no acid. The tannin became too prominent. Otherwise nice flavor; great red/dark fruit balance with a touch of leather and subtle oak. Unfortunately the wine lost my interest throughout the bottle.
