Who would have thought Pennsylvania was producing such mature, sophisticated reds? Beautifully balanced, warm, and round. A pleasing layer of licorice and subtle floral notes give this bottle character. A great, great food wine; a promising pair with pastas.

A serious, brooding red that will likely benefit from a couple more years of bottle age or some generous decanting. Pronounced notes of cocoa and spice are well integrated with berry fruit and apparent through a long, round finish.

A little rough for those accustomed to delicate California Pinots (me) -- the deep, deep purple anticipates the ample spice and earth, and even tannins, in this (apparently) characteristic Pennsylvania Pinot. Refreshing notes of raspberry and cherry are detectable though partially hidden.

100% Chambourcin (estate grown, I think). One of the smokiest, most savory wines I've ever tasted -- uncanny notes of cured salami and Louisiana style smoked brisket. Not the most balanced or sophisticated of reds, but if you want a red that will stand up to BBQ, pepperoni, etc this is it.

A truly dry Rose; even some subtle and pleasing bitterness on the finish. Barbie pink in color, but as sophisticated on the palate as any Rose I've tasted. Will likely pair well with grilled fish. Believe it or not, this Rose may benefit from a little bottle age (or at least some decanting).

Unusual white, with pronounced tropical flavors (each sip is like a tour of the tropical Starburst packs I used to eat at summer camp). A nice change of pace from your everyday Chards, but probably not for everyday drinking. A little shallow on the finish. Might be a good compliment to otherwise hard to pair foods like Thai curries.

Pleasing picnic white. Ample acidity, though balanced by nice fruit, especially pineapple.

June 2009
An incredible value (despite the ugly label), this is a dead-on California Cab. Plenty of grip and character (cedar, leather, even briary) but nicely balanced, almost remarkably so for this price point (often $10 at BevMo).

A little spicier, more tannic, and more earthy than Lynmar's 2006 Pinots (perhaps bottle age will mellow these flavors somewhat), but retains that juicy, mouth-watering raspberry quality that all Lynmar Pinots seem to posses, and still quite smooth.

Nice nose but a little too sweet on the palate. Very rich and buttery, even for a CA Chardonnay.
