Added Oct 4, 2010 at 6:54pmPowerful - almost a little too powerful. Definitely needs to sit for a bit before drinking, but once you start, it's hard to stop. This is not a wussy wine. Luscious, rich, chewy. For the price, it's pretty amazing (got it for $9 at Circle in Chevy Chase, DC).

Wild Horse Merlot 2004

Added Oct 18, 2008 at 9:04pmBest $6 bottle of wine I've had in a while. Enormously drinkable, goes down smooth and easy with pasta or a plate of cheese and a baguette. Nothing fancy, but for $6, what would I expect?

Xarmant Txakolina 2006
Added Oct 18, 2008 at 8:59pmPerfect with tapas (heavy on the seafood and vegetables), this is almost like a lightly carbonated soft drink more than a wine, but that suited the food perfectly. Champagne for when champagne is too much.

Added Jul 22, 2008 at 3:35pmLove this wine. One of my favorite Shirazes. Worth opening for company (as long as it's company you like). Rich, juicy, round, sweet but not cloying.

Added Jul 22, 2008 at 3:33pmSolid, cheap cab to have on hand for everyday table wine. No frills, nothing fancy, but that's not a knock - sometimes you just want to have a good bottle of red around. And it's so cheap, you don't feel like you need any special reason to open it - "It's 5 o'clock" is good enough.

Added Jul 22, 2008 at 3:30pmSolid, thirst-quenching if not sexy American Rosé - a solid choice for summer sipping on the porch.

Added Jul 22, 2008 at 3:28pmOne of my wife's (a big fan of pinot gris and grigio, but not syrupy-sweet, nasty whites or pinks) favorites. Not too dry, not too fruity, light and relatively low alcohol, but really flavorful and delicious. Great wine for freshwater fish.
