clear ruby color. blueberry and baked apple nose, a concentrated balance of tart and black cherry with notes of oak and earth hit the palate, high acid and medium body that gains weight with decanting. good finish with clear cherry and stonefruit flavors.

Clear garnet color. Cherries and cream on the nose with hints of violets and rose petals. Fresh, resiny cranberry on the palate with notes of orange rind and smoke, needed several hours to smooth out the strong tannins. A building finish of dark stonefruit and black pepper.

The best-sealed bottle of the 3 I purchased (The second was a dud.) A sleeping beauty with initial notes of chocolate, fig and date soon woke up (last 2 glasses of the bottle, thankfully with my friend born in 1983). Silky cherry and dark red fruit, with notes of root-beer and caramel. A generous building, long-lasting finish with bing cherry and plum. An odd material clinging to the cork - not the typical tartrate crystals I would expect - light yellowish blobs that felt sandy to the touch. Sulfur? I'm curious...

Decanted around 2.5 hours, crimson color with a brown hue, currant and chocolate nose, lively notes of black raspberry and more chocolate on the palette, long red raspberry finish with notes of watermelon and licorice. Very velvety once it aired out, and looking forward to drinking this wine again the in the near future -- perhaps at its peak now, or on its way out.
