Discovering myself as I discover wine..a love of which was fostered at a young age by my Italian family, the grapevines I played under as a child and the many attempts by my Nonno and father to make wine...

In Cellar, have not drank yet:) Waiting for an oyster night... From winealign: Though the grape used here is actually Melon de Bourgogne, Muscadet, the appellation, has become so synonymous with this wine that the grape’s name has for all intents and purposes become officially known as Muscadet. No matter what name you prefer, this citrus-packed, mineral-rich wine is one of the wine world’s finest matches for steamed mussels or clams. Fresh, clean elegant and quite classic in style. Nose is unfortunately shy but shows a touch of minerality. Finish is clean and focused with fresh squeezed lemon that lingers. No great intrigue here but it stays true to tradition and style. Light and very crisp. Tasted June 2011. This pours pale silver. The nose has some ripe pear fruit and a musky, almond note with a squeeze of lime, but not much character. Good weight for muscadet with a simple, green apple, citrus finish. A touch warm. Chill it well. Tasted July 2011.

From the Sticks website: Tasting Notes Colour - Vibrant red with deep purple hues; Aroma - Raspberry, cherry liqueur, cinnamon, plum; Palate - Cherry, plum, spice, textural. WINEMAKING Fruit was destemmed allowing only whole berries to be pumped directly into the fermenters. Winemaking was carefully managed using a combination of "open pots" with hand plunging and static fermenters. Colour and flavour extraction was meticulously managed through regular sighting and tasting of the wine. The wine was aged on new and seasoned French oak for a period of eight months before parcels were blended to assemble the final wine. VINTAGE COMMENTS A hot and dry vintage meant careful selection of only the finest fruit.
