    Slipstream's Review:

Modestly sour, with some sweetness, and a bit of smoke and vegetal flavors, plus a dash of iron. Medium bodied and fairly mild. Enjoyable and well worth the $9 I spent for a liter.

    Slipstream's Review:

A 2006 blend from the famous vintner & film director that contains zinfandel, syrah, and cabernet sauvignon. Cherry and oak in the aroma. Full and sweet at first, even a little brandy-like. Then it shifts to flavors of fig and prune and a pleasant sourness. Not sharp or bitter, but well-rounded. Surprisingly rich for a red table wine, very nice.

    Slipstream's Review:

This is the first madeira I have tried. I know it was popular in colonial era USA. Lightly smoky, vinous aroma. Complex flavor with citrus tartness, honey, smoke, and a somewhat bitter finish. A winner at the 2004 Indiana State Fair (second only to Bessie the Pig, says Dave). There could be one too many elements in the flavor profile, but this is an interesting beverage.

  • Slipstream's Review:

Sour aroma with a touch of oak. Flavor is nice malty sweetness, followed by alcoholic warmth, wood, and an enjoyable sour finish. The ripasso technique gives it a kick, altho the alcohol is only 13%. A solid wine with a reliable character. (Not sure what year my bottle was from.)

Eggplant coloured pour, almost brown. Pungent aroma. Sweet and fruity, with a touch of fig and pomegranate. A little syrupy, but still good.

Lightly sour, fruity aroma. Full, earthy flavor. Some bitterness, warmth, and sour presence too. A good wine for a cloudy day.

Purchased in 2008. This was a nice treat for a cold night. Better served hot or warm. An average wine tarted up with some spices (clove and citrus, e.g.) to give it a nice sour-sweet-aromatic flavor. My friend Shred says the best way to have gluhwein is at an outdoor market in Germany on a December evening.

    Slipstream's Review:

Really nice - fruity, with just the right amount of sweetness.
