Added Jan 18 at 1:22pmEnjoyed this on Sunday 18 January, 2015. Has been in my cellar since April 2002, when bought on a business trip at the airport in Singapore. Still dark ruby in color, but slightly pale on the edges. Also still pretty intense, with a fruity and berry bouquet with cherry, plum and even blueberry and raspberry. The touch of oak and vanilla has become subdued and light. After 20+ years it is balanced, very smooth but still retains structure and is delicious in the mouth with soft tannins and a pleasant fullness. This wine has certainly aged well, even superbly and is a great example of high class and what the best Rioja from best years can become. A great experience.

Dark purple in colour, strong and intense with blackcurrant and minerals on the nose, plus some coffee and leather, Complex, ripe, and intense on the palate, and maintains a high level of elegance, smoothness while still having some intense power. It could well handle a further 2-5 years of cellaring. Either this is an excellent vintage or an exceptional wine throughout, Simply magnificient. Actusally reminds me partly of a Penfolds Grange from 1996.

Added Mar 2, 2014 at 1:52pmEnjoyed this on 2 March, 2014. Should be noted that we had the 1994 Musar before this wine, so a tough comparison with a real classic. But this is a classic too, mid-dark ruby color turning light at the edges with an almost transparent rim. The nose is perfumed with dill, red berries, earth and vanilla. The palate is dry, smooth, light-bodied with a silky taste featuring red cherry, dried strawberry, leather cranberry, and, sorry if I say it, Finnish dill cooked cray fish. This wine is beyond its peak now and should be enjoyed within the next 12-18 months. But now it is still elegant, well-balanced, and even graceful.

Added Mar 2, 2014 at 12:44pmEnjoyed this old Musar from 1994 on 2 March, 2014. Has been in my cellar since Jan 2004, so 10 years. This is the last bottle of four. Medium dark, slightly brown/orange on the edges. Smokey, earthy warm and a spicy nose, some fruit and still powerful. The palate is spicy with fruit, plum, herbs and perhaps tea. Overall, very balanced with smooth tannins, but clear acidity. At the age of 20 year, it is still delicious, full-bodied and complex with great concentration and thus a very long after taste. Simply an excellent wine and a great experience.

Added Mar 1, 2014 at 1:23pmEnjoyed this La Magia 2001 on 1 March, 2014. It has been in my cellar since Nov 2009 so 4+ years.Bought for EUR 50 on a wine cruise with Silja Line. The wine opened up in the glass nicely after some 30 min. Still very dark ruby in color, slightly thin on edges. Blackberries, red currant, cherry and hints of licorice and vanilla. Full bodied, but smooth with now soft, but still tangible tannins. The finish goes on and on, vau. This is a great Brunello from an exceptional year. Perfect to drink now.

Added Jan 11, 2014 at 3:28pmHad the 2001 vintage on 11 Jan, 2014. Has been in my cellar since Nov 2004. Awarded as wine of the year in 2004 in Finland in category 10-20 Eur. Nice smooth, light blueberry, leather, vanilla, on the nose, even some black pepper. Still well structured on the palate despite its age, even strongish, clear pepper. Really balanced and nice. A few more in cellar, will develop further.

The 1998 vintage has developed very well, a real swan has developed from an overly tight and tannin filled wine years ago. Now smooth, balanced, but still with a lot of solid structure, a cabernet sauvigon at its aged best. One more bottle to go.

Added Nov 9, 2013 at 1:27pmHad this wine on 9 Nov, 2013. Has been in my cellar since Jan 2007. Brownish and light on the edges, strong earthy flavors on the nose. Tsste is really smooth after some air. Leather, light oaky vanilla, soft berries. Has aged well, but is starting to be a bit 'tired'. Good to drink now.

Added Nov 3, 2013 at 2:42pmHad the 2005 vintage on 3 Nov, 2013 right after an Opus One from 1998. So there was a bit of a challenge. However, the Luis Canas came out of it with flying colors - velvet in color, soft vanilla and oak and plenty of dark berries (Finnish blueberry if I may), and solid acids and tannins to keep its structure. Very good choice to selected soft cheeses.
