A decent entry-level Madeira with no age declaration. It has a lot of nut and dried red fruit aromas and flavors, but only a hint of the distinction of the noble Madeira wines. A great place to start learning about Madeira.

If you love Madeira and live in New York, don't buy this wine in state! I was visiting Boston and found this in a wine shop for a song. Its sister, the Boston Bual, had a $10 homer price premium. Anyway, I've sung the praises of the Rare Wine Company's Historic Series elsewhere, but their New York Malmsey, the sweetest style of Madeira, is truly spectacular. A medium brown colored wine with a green tinted rim, this old beauty is full of delicious walnut, toffee, raisin and date flavors. Super complex, powerful and certainly sweet, the incredible acidity keeps this wine in balance and the finish is actually quite dry. Now we have some idea why Thomas Jefferson spent so much time writing about Madeira.

picked up for $12.99 Amazing concentration of developed fruit, spice and earth aromas and flavors. One of the best Crianza I've ever had for the money.

A delicately balanced Sauternes with lemon-orange aromas. Nectar-like with deep citrus, pear, peach and honeyed stone fruit flavors. A touch of botrytis. Delicious. One of the very best sweet wines of the vintage.

Lots of pear and peach notes. A very decent Sauternes.
