    Oenophilus' Review:

What an interesting wine, recommended with dinner by Shelly, the Sommelier at SPQR in San Francisco. Not too aggressive to sip while waiting for the antipasti - with which it paired perfectly. A little too hot to handle the very peppered Carbonara. The wine is very pretty and shines brightly yet retaining a dark purple shade. A beautifully interesting nose reminiscent of Moroccan spiced carrots - with cinnamon and clove and caramelized sweetness leading into a very round mouthfeel full of broad black cherry fruit flavors. It is not quite flabby, but I would have liked the acids to fill my mouth. The chalky tannins and plum flavors rest on the mid tongue while the acids prickle and burn around on the finish.

Clear, bright crimson color. This offering from Boschis had a very attractive nose: rose petals, cranberry,& lemongrass. It has a very light entry on the palate with meaty grape and red fruit flavors giving a lighter mouthfeel. The tannins on the finish are slighlty bitter but with a nice tomato acid on the sides leaving you with a hint of sweetness.

"Has held up quite well! I like it much more than I did when I opened y last bottle a couple of years ago. Interesting bouquet and nice dark complexities on the palate."

    Oenophilus' Review:

A rose-tinted edge goes dark to its apparently unfiltered purple center. Oak perfumes, sweet plum, black pepper, and mesquite aromas lead into a wine with a great rich mouthfeel and gentle acids. Focused red fruit flavors, violet, vanilla, coat the tongue while powdered spice (clove & cinnamon) tannins remain on the finish along with sparkling acids on the tongue. Its all there. I'd drink this wine again and again.

    Oenophilus' Review:

A great effort by Bruce Campbell and his winemaker Chris Markell. This wine has a very characteristic syrah nose with plum, blackberry, fennel, leather, and white pepper. Upon tasting, I get all sorts of rich black fruit that is smooth across the palate and mid-palate. There is a hole back center of the mouth that leaves me wanting more than the wine can give. The finish leaves dark, slightly bitter tannins, lemon twist, and long spicy acids. The complexity of this wine is a little vermouth-like which is a big plus since I love red Vermouth. As a whole, this is one of my new favorites that of course paris beautifully with Grilled CK Lamb.
