Hello fellow wine lovers! I've recently started a blog that reviews the wines I try (www.OCWineAndLifestyle.com), so I thought I would expand my reviews to this site! I love full-bodied, robust reds, so most of my reviews will address those. Enjoy!

Added Apr 11, 2010 at 4:36pmI enjoyed the Turley 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel last night with dinner (April 10, 2010). It paired nicely with some highly flavorful and robustly seasoned salmon, couscous and asparagus. This Zin is beautiful - not too jammy like many zins are these days. It's appropriately spicy and peppery, with plum and berry notes interwoven giving it a lovely balance of flavors. It's great on the nose and finishes nicely, too. I would definitely want to purchase this wine again, but I'm not sure it's quite worth the money. I also hear the folks at the winery can be snobby, which is a huge turn-off to me. I mean, really...do we need to be full of ourselves?? These reasons knock this from a "5" to a "4" rating for me. But if you've had a different experience at the winery and/or if you don't mind snooty folks when you go tasting, then the wine, in and of itself, is lovely. Added Dec 12, 2009 at 5:55pmTasty Chardonnay. I prefer a more oakey, buttery Chardonnay and this one tends to be a little more fruit forward. Nonetheless, there are buttery overtones intermixed with the pineapple, pear and tropical flavors offered by this wine. Certainly one to enjoy. I'm told that Flora Springs can be "hit or miss" each year, but this 2006 Barrel Fermented vintage is a winner. Added Aug 11, 2009 at 9:55pmThis wine starts out strong with a wonderful nose of leather, spice, dark berry and hints of vanilla. The palate is a little less fabulous but has nice smoky flavors of strawberry, cherry and cedar. The finish is my least favorite part of this wine experience, but it's not the worst I've had. There is just a hint of a cough syrup flavor in the midst of the cherries in the finish, bit it's not so overwhelming that it would prevent me from buying this wine again. Let it breathe sufficiently before drinking and that will diminish.

Added Aug 6, 2009 at 1:27amI had the pleasure of picking up this delightful wine at Trader Joe's for $5.99 in early August, 2009. It's hard to know what to expect at that kind of price point, but the Shannon Ridge was a pleasure. With toasty vanilla and berry aromas followed by a spicy, peppery red berry flavor, I was impressed already. It finishes strong and flavorful. What a surprisingly delicious treat! This wine is primarily Zinfandel with small amounts of Cab and Petite Sirah blended in. Wonderful - I'll be buying more of this. Added Aug 3, 2009 at 5:37pmThis wine was...(yawn)...boring. The hints of flavor that I could actually detect were very nice; however, there wasn't nearly enough. After a nice bouquet and anticipation of a wonderfully flavorful wine, the actual experience was a true letdown, followed by an almost non-existent finish. If you're looking for a robust red, the 2005 Vacqueyras Mas du Bouquet is one is not the right choice. If you're looking for something mild and without a lot of intense flavors, this one could be your new best friend! For more wine reviews, please visit my blog at www.kathyschager.wordpress.com.
