Eos Petite Sirah 2006
Added Feb 15, 2012 at 5:09pmWhile the classic berry aromas and tastes come through clearly in this Petite Sirah, I was most surprised by two aspects. First, on the nose there is a hint of sea-air. Even more wonderful, it is followed by a distinctly present salted-caramel taste which makes it, in my limited experience, quite unique and wonderful delicious.

Added Feb 15, 2012 at 5:03pmWhile in my opinion it is not necessarily deserving of the 90 point rating it sometimes get, this Riesling certainly should not be written off. My wife and I served it very chilled and found it to be crisp and refreshing. With distant notes of citrus shadowed by red and golden apple aromas, it is crisp in the mouth with a highlighted mineral taste. Enjoy with a variety of parings.

Added Feb 15, 2012 at 4:56pmThis Turning Leaf vintage is similar to those found in the Paso Robles area, despite being from the more inland Central Valley of California. Nevertheless, it delivers and backs up the vineyards numerous awards for strong notes of berries (blackberry, especially) and it's light finish. It's certainly a great value for its price.

Added Feb 15, 2012 at 4:32pmOne of the most amazing Chardonnays I have tasted, everything about this Napa vintage is close to perfect. Color, nose, taste... It all blends together to be one of the best wine drinking experiences available. Especially note the obviously present buttery taste. And though it's hard not to want to drink it all quickly because of how good it is, your patience will pay off as it opens and adds new layers of complexity both on the nose and tongue. Enjoy! (I certainly did!)

Added Feb 1, 2012 at 2:52pmBeautiful in the glass, the color of this rose wine is stunning. When the light falls through it, it's like seeing the sunshine through stained-glass windows in far away church. The nose presents a wonderful bouquet of spring flowers and just a hint of rain in a field. A little sharp on the tongue at first, it has a wonderful flavor with notes of stone fruits and just a hint of dusty pollen. It finishes nicely by not lingering too long on the tongue. A great wine with a great story.

Added Jan 13, 2012 at 4:01pmA fantastically balanced Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles! I was a little worried by the color at first which was a little more orange on the edges than expected, but it delivers nonetheless. I was most impressed by the contrast of the fruit aromas in the nose compared to the strong oak flavor coming through on the palate. While it is promoted as having a soft cocoa taste, I could not find it so don't try to hard to look for it. This wine is soft on the attack with a very smooth and delicate finish that makes it well rounded. Pair well with rich meats (broiled or grilled steaks) and hearty vegetables.

Added Jan 11, 2012 at 4:47pmAs many of the other reviews have pointed out, this red blend is definitely a "play it safe." When you find you need a wine quick to bring/serve at a party or if you just need a wine to go with tonight's everyday dinner, this is a good blend with both aromas and taste of berries. The blending method does allow for distinct taste of the three varietals with each one's unique characteristic subtly shinning through, but not strong enough for my own personal liking.

Added Dec 23, 2011 at 1:59pmBack in August 2011, we served this sparkling wine for the toast at our wedding. It is a great sparkling wine for celebrations when there are plenty of people to be served and you have to keep your budget low without insulting them with the cheapest available. It offers a great flavor with very noticeable citrus notes with a particularly good grapefruit taste. With a very desirable distribution of bubbles it gives one of the most perfect popping feelings on the tongue I've ever had from a California sparkling wine.

Added Dec 23, 2011 at 1:51pmThere was very little that was special about this wine for me, but it would be great for those who might wish to avoid a rich and complex white. A perfect wine for anyone looking to just have an inexpensive something to go with a weeknight dinner in, I find it best served with authentic Italian pasta dishes.

Added Dec 22, 2011 at 1:34pmI'll admit that against my own principles I first tried this wine because of the name and label. While I try not to let marketing dictate my choices, I was nevertheless very surprised by this wine and it is now my go-to Zin. From its plum color in the bottle and glass to its woody aroma to its undoubtedly spicy taste, it delights all the senses. Makes a great sharing or gifting wine when preferences are unknown and is sure to please almost anyone.
