Added Apr 1, 2012 at 9:29pmNot as Earth-shattering as the 2008 but still an excellent wine. I don't know how he gets his wines to drink so well so early without seeming to lose any structure or complexity. The wine was very bright, lots of red currants and black raspberries.

Added Feb 17, 2013 at 6:05pmAfter 10 years of age this wine is remarkably fresh. Plenty of rich fruit remains, the tannins are perfectly soft and many new flavors have developed. Blackberry pie, clove, cigarbox, cedar, bittersweet cocoa, white pepper, and smoke. The wine took about an hour to really coax itself awake but it was well worth the wait.

Lists: Grapes Less Traveled
Added Mar 21, 2012 at 3:52pmElegant might not be the first word that jumps to your mind when thinking about a 100% Petit Verdot but St. Supery is nothing but. Not to say it isn't also a fairly big wine with persistent yet very ripe tannins. This wine definitely has weight in every part of it but it carries that weight well, think Gothic Cathedral. Blackberry jam, clove, cinnamon, cedar and tobacco all lifted up by a nice underlying acidity. This wine started me on my search for lesser known varietal bottlings.

Palazzo Napa Valley 2006

Added Apr 20, 2012 at 1:25pmArgot Wines never fail to impress and borderline heretical methods always produce wines that can wake you up from a wine-rut. Fences has an astonishing amount of layers that start with red fruits like cherries and black raspberries and move to blueberries then on to cassis. Between floors we can spot cigar box, dry pine needles, and tarragon. A powerhouse that doesn't lose its elegant charm.

Palazzo Napa Valley 2004
Added Feb 17, 2013 at 5:56pmAnother exciting "Right Bank" style wine from Napa. I have to admit I am becoming more and more enamored with this style. The wine is smooth like velvet, there are spice notes all around with red and black fruits lead by cassis. Some smoke and wood notes along the finish. Another wine to show how Merlot can lead and be the star in a blend.

Lists: Que Syrah Shiraz
Added Feb 16, 2013 at 9:53pmThis wine shows the great potential of Australian Shiraz. The nose is quite aromatic with chocolate, holiday spices, and cassis. The pallette is rich and unctuous with mocha, blackberry, baking chocolate and pepper. Very long finish. Silky smooth tannins.
