Pushing the limit on the hi-pH style of Syrah, but there is loads of fruit, chocolate, and plum sauce to this wine. Drink now.

A touch on the sweet side, but the body and fruit forward style won me over. Lots of oak but the wine has enough stuffing to pull it off. Forgot how much I paid for it, but will certainly seek these wines out again.

Needed patience to open up, but once it got there it was pulling strong oak influences over some concentrated berry fruit. Coffee/toffee wood notes with a subtle pepper and plum/raisen push. Tannins are there, but the oak smoothes out the finish. It will be cool to see what the follow up vintages are like. Hope they tone down the wood and let the fruit shine more.

Bargain wine that is fun to learn about. Nose will make you think of a sweet muscat or viognier, body has some viognier meets sauvignon blanc action.

All about raspberry and spice. Light grenachey wine with a hit of residual sugar at the front palate

Beefy, berry driven. Great wine for the price.

Mushrooms, roses, and red fruit on the nose. Nice flavors of strawberry/cherry with an earthy note. Not huge on complexity, but a nice balanced barolo for a resonable price.

Great value at 18 bucks. A shiraz with loads of fruit, floral aromatics and a finish that actually holds a hint of acid, unlike many of the syrupy shiraz out there.

In your face (and nose) style. Pungent gooseberry, nice acid, but not over the top. Easy to drink.

Paul Dolan Deep Red 2005
A wine of expression here. Not shy but this one needs decanting or a day of patience to let it really unfold. Raspberry, roses, pepper, cloves, and a fennel/licorice note on the nose. Aggressive at first it mellows with air to show plenty of black fruits, earthy notes, and a baking chocolate finish. A drinker/thinker.
