Mount Edward Pinot Noir is from the Central Otago region of New Zealand and is a pretty decent wine.As a fan of the syrah grape, I always compare others to this. I continue to put Hermitage (from the Northern Rhone region) on the peddle stool and the grand title of "my favorite wine". These are elegant and subtle wines. Pinot Noir produces some fantastically stylish wines. Of course, it's the grape of Burgundy. I am still surprised I have not yet fallen in love with them. I am always looking for more structure. Perhaps I miss the tannins. Unsure.

Pleasant wine. Soft fruit aromas. Fruity and quite peppery aftertastes. Spicey. Would probably prefer a Rioja to a Fitou, but this one is quite full-bodied.

Very good value. Very light & fresh, zesty on the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Gooseberry flavours to taste. Medium finish. Went very well with french-style quiche.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had not chosen it myself. Disappointed my original selection was not in stock, my local majestic wine shop manager recommended the margaux. These wines tend to mature quite quickly. The wine was complex. Soft tannins. I found there were hints of spices lingering at the tip of the tongue. Unusual. I accompanied it with roast chicken (poulet de bresse). The Margaux was terrific with the poulet.

Had a few glasses of this at one of my favorite chef's restaurant recently. It has fine bubbles and tastes wonderful. Very elegant. This champagne is made only from the chardonnay grape. Generally, champagne is made from three grapes: two black grapes (pinot noir, pinot meunier) and chardonnay, the white grape. The red grapes give it its weight and maturing roundness.
