Rhone character in the herbs and spices here, but more New World-style in being all about the deliciously warm fruit . Light-med bodied, though, so not rich or heavy.

Sweet chocolatey blackcurrant fruit freshened with a hint of crisp green veg and light mouthfeel. A whisper of liquorice on the finish.

Cherry fruit nose and at first on palate. A bit smoky then pure raspberry kicks in like a glass of squeezed raspberry fruit. Offset by the smoky earthiness for balance and finesse.Highly silky mouthfeel.

Fooled into thinking off-dry at first but, no, its crisp acid keeps the floral fruit in kilter. Layers and layers of complexity: kerosene, tobacco, minerals. Endlessly entertaining.

A nose of hazlenuts and delicate buttered popcorn. Fresh acidity to balance the buttered popcorn that continues into a long finish.

Looks HUGE in the glass but mercifully not. Tobacco and cedar nose and palate. Tannins high but in balance. Could drink now but should age beautifully. This is one New World offering I would substitute for Bordeaux.

I would say 'lush' black berry fruit, but that would belie the balanced earthy minerality and tannins of this delicious wine. The pure rich fruit is tempered and rendered simply moreishly gluggable. Outstanding value.

Inky dark colour. Lovely peppery nose with plum fruit that follows through in mouth. Not too heavy despite appearance.

Toasted marshmallow and lead pencil nose. Fresh crunchy cherry fruit palate and more toasted marshmallow but acidic so not too sweet or overpowering. Long herby finish.

Looks youthfully purple but is well-balanced now. Cassis fruit and cedar, just what I'd expect, and well executed. Lovely.
