Added Mar 23, 2013 at 5:20pmNine years have made this excellent blend outstanding. It still has those exotic dark chocolate (think Lindt 85%) and raisin Christmas-pudding qualities, but the tannins are butter-soft now and the acid is still high giving an overall impression of freshness. The merlot has really come to the fore with intense plumminess. A wonderful example of great NZ winemaking.

Added Aug 10, 2012 at 1:20pmFirm tannins and high acid but plenty of cherry fruit to balance which, in fact, otherwise might have seemed too simplistic. There is a tobacco-leaf finish that lingers & enhances the complexity.

Added Aug 10, 2012 at 1:06pmDark black fruit but not too fully rich. Soft mouthfeel. Easy-drinking red with some cedary oak making it rather like a fruity low-level Bordeaux.

Added Aug 10, 2012 at 12:53pmChargrilled barbecue nose. Smooth palate of crunchy-fresh cranberry with good acid. Slightly smoky in mouth but mostly just that appealing fruit.

Added Aug 10, 2012 at 12:46pmIt really shows that this is from cooler-climate Victoria in Australia's south & should silence those who still believe Australia's chardonnays are big & rich. This is reminiscent of Meursault or Sonoma chardonnay: fresh pineapple nose & palate leads to a delicate nutty finish which is long for the price.

Added Aug 10, 2012 at 12:38pmWhistle-clean on the nose and palate. A very pure riesling without spice or petrol notes, just neat citrus fruit and a hint of minerality in a technically perfect offering.

Bodega Nqn Picada 15 2010
Added Aug 6, 2012 at 6:34amI looked forward to this having hugely enjoyed Patagonian blends before. This one, though, was too richly-fruited for me. The black fruit was intense and redeemed only by a hint of green pepper and some smokiness to add interest. Even though I had it with steak, this was just too rich for my taste.

Added Aug 1, 2012 at 1:25pmSurprisingly light in terms of mouth-weight but packs a punch of crisp lychee and mango fruit. On the floral side, it has fresh elderflower notes, all wrapped up in lime freshness - and this is a really fresh, appealing wine.

Added Aug 1, 2012 at 1:18pmI said divine apricot colour but reviewer above more accurate with 'delicate smoked salmon pink'. The nose is ever-so-slightly earthy on its strawberries, In the mouth those strawberries are mouthwateringly acidic in a highly well-balanced package.

Added Aug 1, 2012 at 1:13pmA floral nose of roses repeats on the palate but is tempered with really crisp acid. Good balance, not too heavy in the mouth.
