Beef and gently vegetal on the nose this reminds me of beef stew on the nose with soft shadings of wild berry fruit and wild mushrooms adding detail. Soft and a bit fat in the mouth, there’s a nice bed of savoriness covered by the dense and slightly chewy fruit here. Toasty accents and dark fruit saturate the palate with modest tannins and inconsequential acidity trying to lend some form in the mouth and through the modest finish. This smells better than it tastes. 80pts

Youthful and quite fruity on the nose with hints of plummy fruit intertwined with some spicy oak and gently vegetal braised greens notes all bound up with sweet scents of caramel. Rich and a touch sweet on entry with soft tannins and integrated acidity supporting a nice ball of rich if somewhat indistinct dark fruit on the palate. The wood is not too intrusive yet remains a bit aggressive and just out of balance leaving the finish just a touch bitter in spite of the residual sweetness here. 83pts

A bit of mushroom on the nose shows the evolution here but this does offer up a fairly complex array of toasted oak, tarry, and gently spice aromas that include hints of green fennel seeds and black cherry and currant fruit. Smooth and polished in the mouth, this retain quite robust black cherry and black currant fruit on the palate with a rich yet supple feel. There’s just the merest hint of herbaceousness here that really acts as a very gentle accent to the copious dark fruit. The wood pops a touch on the back of the palate and supports the fairly long if slightly drying finish. Rather pleasant and drinking well. 86pts

Classic Carmenere on the nose with lovely currant fruit framed with assertive herbal, dill, and minty aromas. A touch soft in the mouth though with good clarity and acids that arrive a bit later on the palate. This is an easy going example, with sparse yet firm tannins that keep this a bit tense and subtly ornery on the palate. The fruit is simple but bright and this finishes with those bristly tannins cleansing the palate. The finish shows off bright and slight astringent red fruits as well. A lovely little wine. Just what a $10 Carmenere should be. 86pts

Fairly intense aromatically, showing off lots of caramelly toasted oak aromas along with paprika and raw beefy accented red berry fruit topped with some bay leaf and oregano . This is smooth, firm and slightly dense in the mouth. It’s filled with polished tannins and is well supported by integrated acidity. The flavors are a bit of a one two punch of dark, slightly stewy fruit and toasty oak but many folks will appreciate the obvious simplicity of this wine. the oak really asserts itself on the back end adding creamy toasted hazelnut flavors to the jammy blackberry and black currant fruit before turning the finish a bit dry and raw with wood tannin. This might improve a bit with some age as the fruit does return after the tannins have melted away on the palate. 87pts

A bit tight on the nose with an early hint of minerality followed by black currant and black cherry aromas that are trailing notes of dried thyme, wood smoke, and a hint of clove. Moderately rich in the mouth and well structured, this shows off some well integrated yet firm wood tannins , though it does seem just a touch soft, or perhaps a bit too fleshy would be a better put. It feels tight and a touch closed on the palate though it does show nice inner mouth perfumes of vanilla, creamy, wild blueberries and red currant fruit. Subtle and tight through the modest finish, one can sense some elegance and fine winemaking here, but this still lacks some intensity of flavor for me. 87pts

Tight and focused on the nose with a thin veneer of oak restraining peppery and spicy herb infused plum and slightly tarry black currant fruit. Soft and smooth, and down right plush on entry with late arriving acids that help lend this a more lively character. the fruit is a bit dark and chewy with subtle herbal and medicinal licorice hints adding detail in the mouth. Air brings out the cocoa note of Merlot on the nose and the fruit gets plumper and plummier in the mouth,. though on the backend this retains tension and a firmness that is appealing. The finish is fairly long and quite structured, firm even with lingering earthy fruit and dried floral notes that bode well for additional development in the bottle. 89pts

Dark and muscular on the nose with earthy, forest floor streaked fruit that shows dried fruit character and some gamy notes. Round up front but then this is oddly small in the mouth, a tight ball of polished tannins, well balanced acidity, and subtle plum, black berry, and oak spice flavors brushed gently with hints of licorice and sage. The finish is moderately long with those supple tannins and gently cutting acids keeping this lively on the palate. the finale shows some wild raspberry and marion berry notes along with a flourish of herbal spice and well judged oak. Air lends a more herbal cast to the nose here and develops the oak on the palate into something decidedly chocolate and mocha toned. The alcohol does stick out on the finish but this is still quite well put together. 89pts.

Lovely aromas of dried and braised herbs greet the nose along with layers of toasty and slightly nutty oak, dried mushroom, and very rich and pure currant fruit with a hint of purple plum as a top note. Smooth and to a degree quite restrained considering the aromatics. this is classically structure with some firm but well measured tannins focusing the wine in the mouth and acidity keeping this bright and transparent on the palate where the nicely delineated red currant fruit and spicy herbal nuances of the nose come together seamlessly with the oak that serves as a background night through the finish. Rich yet restrained with a gentle elegance that is very appealing, this should even improve over the short term. Classy wine. 90pts
