    Green Pea's Review:

At $10.00 a bottle this Cab is hard to beat. At first pour, sour cherries are prevalent. As the glass opens up, coco, plums and strawberry come alive. If you work for it you can pick up subtle hint of rose petals. It is silky and balanced on the pallet with a raspberry taste. This wine is actually fine by itself or would be great with a heavy meat. I know that's a conflict in terms but it's true.I bought a case after the second bottle I tried and I keep wondering why I didn't buy two. I know of no other Cab at ten dollars I would rather have. This is a steal.

Dear Lord where do I start. At $10.00 this is a steal. The first time I tried this was at a wine tasting. Of all the wines we sampled, this one was selected by all as the best. My curiosity sent me back to the wine store to pick up a bottle. It was on sale for ten bucks. I bought two along with some others I have never tried. Prior to dinner I opened this to allow it to rest for roughly an hour. From the bottle the first thing to hit my nose was Hershey chocolate. After pouring a glass and giving it a sniff, fresh raspberries and mild cherry were obvious. A few whirls later I picked up subtle strawberries. On the pellet this is nice and silky. I tasted cranberries, black raspberries, and black current. Defiantly a dark berry taste. The finish is just right. Not too dry and not too sweet, and the bonus is it doesn't leave in a hurry.People this is obviously not the best wine on the market but at ten dollars it's a sincere value. Enough of a value that I went right back to the wine shop and grabbed a case. I just don't see how you can go wrong with this one.

    Green Pea's Review:

Ok, take this for what it's worth. Tonight I had a wine tasting at my house. The theme was predominately red wines. The first three wines were Pinot Noir. I am new at wine taste reviews but I'll give it a shot. The three Pinot Noir wines were Mirassou, Castle Rock and Fat Bastard. While all three were enjoyed, Fat Bastard fared the best among the three. It just seemed to be balanced more so than the others. The finish held on longer and didn't start off aggressive as the other two. Black cherry and strawberry with a touch of vanilla come to mind first on the nose. On the pallet the same comes to mind with the exception being the vanilla. We tried various cheeses, dips and vegetables with each. I absolutely am looking forward to pairing this up with Salmon or a nice salad. This wine has stimulated my curiosity to try other Pinot Noir wines. I will buy this again and pare it up with other Pinot Noir until I find my go to favorite. Who knows, maybe it will be this Fat Bastard. We'll see.

    Green Pea's Review:

Sweet almost a desert wine. Strong hints of honeydew and melon on the nose. This wine would be nice by itself on the porch during summer. Very light and crisp with a tropical fruity taste. I picked up cantaloupe and peach as well. I will buy again but save it for a warm summer evening.

I pared this up with shrimp and asparagus. The shrimp had a mild garlic sauce while the asparagus was drizzled with EVO, sesame seeds and pepper. The wine balanced well and neither over powered one another. Plum, cranberries and cherries were most obvious on the nose and I did pick up subtle hints of oak. The wine is slightly dry with a fruity pallet. For me, cranberries were the most prevalent taste. I enjoyed this wine but I feel the $24.00 price tag was a bit high. I would place it in the $12.00 to $15.00 range. But, I'm fairly new at this so what do I know.
