Added Nov 8, 2008 at 8:27amwas in good form this night. I recall it showing a lot of restraint when I first received my cases. That has blown over to reveal a smoother and slightly sweeter Dolcetto than in the past vintages of this bottle. It reminded me more of a Dolcetto Di Dogliani, which is hardly a bad thing. This bottle showed less structure but much more pleasing blackberry fruit. The acidity stood up well against the antipasti. I would highly recommend this bottle for highly enjoyable current drinking.

Added Oct 16, 2008 at 11:34pmThe Poggi Di Sotto came right after a Chianti Ruffina and the mood of the room brightened immediately. I can recall this amazing acidity and freshness to it that swept the Ruffina from my palette. Packed with flavors of Cherry and with a woodsy undertone that tapered off into a wonderful finish, really lengthy and great with the roasted tomato and squash ragu that I served with it. This truly was a baby Brunello.

Added Oct 16, 2008 at 11:30pmThis Paolo Scavino was a simple and fresh Barbera that was quite enjoyable with very bright cherry fruit and a medium smooth mouth feel. Enjoyable any day wine but not a favorite.
