    DerKellermeister's Review:

Clemens Busch owns vineyard plots in the Mosel which are so steep that the only sun seems to be able to get to the grapes. And Clemens, who harvests them very, very ripe. The results are often fierce Rieslings with a delicate acidity that are truly one of its kind. I particularly like the 2004 vintage of the Falkenlay Spatlese with its mineral verve, which is even more exciting than the heralded 2005 vintage. Bruised apple, spices and minerality dominate in this remarkable Riesling from the Mosel.

    DerKellermeister's Review:

Pale lemon color. It has an invigorating youthful nose of pronounced citrus fruit and minerality. Dry on the palate with a crisp acidity and the same citrus freshness as the nose revealed. It has a pronounced mineral flavor and a well-balanced medium high alcohol level that adds some weight to the stony flavors. Medium length. Although perfectly drinkable now, it is still a bit raw and edgy and will benefit from another year or two in bottle to show its inherent qualities with more refinement. Drink 2010-20.

    DerKellermeister's Review:

Developed nose with a medium intensity of pear fruit, meadow flowers, ripe peach, honey, minerality, botrytis and hints of smoke. Medium sweet on the palate, high acidity, low alcohol and light body. Medium intensity of toffee, strawberry, rhubarb, hints of fennel and wet stone. Medium(+) length.A fine Spatlese in its traditional sense, meaning it's not a lush wine of downgraded Auslese level but shows lots of ripe fruit and at the same time has a radiant acidity level that made me beg for more. Enough acidity to keep it alive for a few more years probably. Its complexity on the nose and the palate is deeply satisfying.

    DerKellermeister's Review:

Pronounced intensity of barnyard, nuts, hay, peach, honey, stones and wet leaves. Sweet, but with crisp acidity, low alcohol and a light body. Pronounced flavor intensity of jammy apricot flavors, minerality, red currant and honey. Long length. Drink now through 2025.Incredibly light and elegant Riesling of true Auslese style (not a downgraded Beerenauslese). Concentrated, balanced, complex. At the same time light and playful. Perfect partner for spicy shrimp or for contemplation after dinner. A very fine wine.

Medium lemon color. Medium intensity of honey, bosc pear, a faint layer of smoke, violets and minerality. Dry on the palate with crisp acidity. Nicely integrated alcohol of a medium level give the Georgia's Paddock Riesling the perfect weight to carry the prnonounced mineral character on the palate, with its oscillating flowery notes, which seem to come and go in waves. A flash of sage at the end. As the wine warms up in the glass the mouthfeel gets a touch of creaminess. Long length. Drink now through 2020.This is a very fine Riesling, different aromas and flavors all coming together to form an exciting liquid mosaic.

    DerKellermeister's Review:

Developed nose with a pronounced intensity of morello cherry, violets, pencil lead and roast beef. A hint of herbal aromas as well, but the green bell pepper, that is typical for Cabernet Franc, has faded away over the years. Quite a nice bouquet! Medium alcohol and acidity on the palate, as well as a medium amount of pleasantly ripe tannins. Overall very balanced with a medium body. Cherry also on the palate, with tobacco notes, strawberry and black pepper. Medium(+) length. Beautiful. Who needs Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot...

    DerKellermeister's Review:

The old vines make an early appearance. The nose is equally developed, with a pronounced intensity of apricot, bay leaf and plums. On the palate it is off-dry, with a noticeable alcohol level and a fairly full body. The acidity is crisp, keeping the wine from becoming too heavy. Perfectly balanced. A pronounced intensity of spiced fruit (baked apple with tarragon) as well as apricot jam leave a long impression on the palate before they slowly fade, a medium(+) length with a surprising finish of mouthwatering pear fruit at the very end.

Med golden color. Developing nose, medium to pronounced intensity aromas of minerals and grapefruit. Dry. Crisp acidity, medium to full body. Pronounced intensity of grapefruit, lots of spice and minerals. Medium alcohol. Long length.Very complex and well-balanced. A wine to sit with and contemplate. Ready to drink but will improve over the next 10-15 years.

  • DerKellermeister's Review:

Medium lemon color. Medium aroma intensity. Very mineral, apricot fruit, wet wood, florals, malt and cow manure. Medium sweet with high acidity. Low alcohol and light body. Medium intensity of apricot, minerals and blackberry flavors. Medium length. The wine benefits from aeration. The aromas develop and take on a much earthier note than the initial mineral/apricot scents. The aromas of this Riesling are very complex and I must say I love that hint of cow manure. It reminds of driving through the countryside on a bike. Aromas and flavors are very well balanced as are residual sugar and acidity levels. It is still very young and I am looking forward to tasting this again in 5-7 years.

  • DerKellermeister's Review:

Beautiful, medium golden color. Very earthy nose, wet clay and grapefruit. Light aromas of smoke and burnt matches. Dry on the palate, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) alcohol, medium body. Which means that it's a fairly powerful yet balanced wine. The palate is ostensibly bitter. Which sounds bad but it isn't. It's very elegant, with a pronounced intensity of minerality, grapefruit and quince. Medium length. Drink now or keep until 2015.
