All Marion wines are made by Celestino Gaspari who was the wine maker at Quintarelli for 20 years and is consulting wine maker for Dal Forno.Heavy, luscious red wine with loads of fruit and spices, yet soft and sweet tanins. A rich wine, it also features flavors of tobacco and espresso and quite detectable chocolate. Marion harvests super ripe fruit and enriches his grapes by air drying them for several weeks in well-ventilated sheds. Aged in 350 liter casks of Slavonian oaks for 30 months. This is a fantastic wine!

This wine is produced in the heart of Puglia from very old, and hence very low yielding vineyards that reach an age of 60 to 80 years. It possesses lip-smacking forward fruit flavors that glide along on a dense, muscular structure and fan out in a remarkably rich finnish. Irresistible in this price range (low $30s). Luca Maroni, Italy's formost wine critic, awarded the 2005 vintage the highest score of 97 points in the 2009 edition of his LM tasting guide - the highes score awarded and hence Number 1 in Italy. This is a great wine. Don't miss it.
