Added Oct 8, 2010 at 2:02am72% Pinot Noir & 28% Riesling (White Riesling) blended as perfectly balanced wine with a hint of sweetness showcases ripe tropical fruit, citrus and minerality. This wine is really hard to get. Usually produced less than 600 cases and mostly sold through winery tasting room during first two month after released. "I could see this wine being served with spicy/savory foods, but also dessert: anything with strawberries, summer berry or cherries." Food and Style Magazine.

Soft. Delightful & food friendly." 'Pinkish salmon hue... red fruit aromas... yeasty accents... fruity... soft style. Delicious.' - true!

This is arguably the best Riesling that Chateau Grand Traverse makes. One of Specialty Winemaker Sean O’Keefe’s pet projects, this medium straw colored wine was made from hand selected grape clusters pressed whole without destemming or crushing, which then underwent a very cool fermentation (42º F) to draw the process out. Off dry, at under 2% residual sugar, it offers rich, ripe green and red apple flavors and aromas underscored with a note of lime and a hint of mineral, all on a somewhat-more-than medium bodied frame, and shows excellent concentration, intensity and balance.

This wine in 2008 (on of the best vintages in that region) is 35% Pinot Gris, 55% Pinot Blanc, 10% Pinot Noir: Deep straw color, with under-ripe green apple, citrus and mineral flavors and aromas; medium full bodied, with good cut and length; rich, round and just ripe enough, this is a fine complement for a fatoush salad and chicken schwarma and wiches. We love it!

The concentrated fruit flavors of peach and apricot are balanced with refreshing acidity. This fruit is harvested very late in the season and often has a little botrytis in its makeup. These honeyed, nectar like aromas and flavors will develop further with aging.

Added Oct 8, 2010 at 1:22amPale in color, with grapefruit, tart citrus a piney lime nose and pine, lime and green apple flavors, and a little spritzy on entry; bright, rich, fairly ripe, crisp and refreshing, gorgeous. On the blind tasting I would say it is "very German" Riesling.

There were wines from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, California and from across the United States—1600 wines in all—entered at the 2010 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition held in San Bernadino, California. But it was a Leelanau County (Michigan) wine that garnered the Best White Wine award.
