Lists: Fun and Funky Whites, Aromatic Whites
Added Apr 3, 2012 at 2:46pmTropical fruit flavors (passion fruit, star fruit), slightly floral, good balanced acidity. A bit waxy, but in a good way, the good-smelling candles not the gross, too-perfumey ones. Would be great with some spicy food!

Added Apr 3, 2012 at 9:28amOk, I'm convinced! A Cally cult wine actually worth the hype. Flowery, sweet smells on the nose giving way to blueberry and white chocolate, earth, licorice and mint. Nothing too glaring or pointy, all frolicking on the palate nicely. Great one for the cellar as this will last a long while, but how can you stand to wait?

Average Price: $39.99
Lists: Sean Thackrey Flight, Cally
Added Apr 3, 2012 at 9:23amHerbal and a bit medicinal on the nose, but fruit emerges on the palate - blueberry, black cherry - dark chocolate, eucalyptus and sage. All perfectly balanced. This can be consumed now, or even in 20 years!

Added Apr 3, 2012 at 9:15amCally Pinot Noir with a real point of view. Bright, ripe cherries on the nose, but instead of the usual, heavy Cally vanilla oak, this is rounded out with herbal notes of pine needle and eucalyptus, with some earth and sweet pipe tobacco. Kept coming back to it. This might age wonderfully too.

Lists: Sean Thackrey Flight, Cally, Crazy for Sangiovese, Viognier, the Other White Wine, Absolute Favs
Added Apr 3, 2012 at 9:05amPerfect example of how to break the rules in style. This is a non-vintage blend of Sangiovese, Viognier and Pinot Noir. Turns out these tastes taste great together, and you don't need to declare a vintage! Stewy spices - dill, mint, bay leaf - toasty vanilla, sweet cherries, a little chutney-like. Sounds crazy, but it totally works!

Added Apr 3, 2012 at 8:52amSmells like a spring garden, very sweet, floral and clean. Instead of the usual stone fruits, this is more pear and golden apple with a honeyed finish. Not overpowering with the floral aromatics.

Boek Wolftrap White 2010
Compare and BuyAverage Price: $13.62
Added Apr 2, 2012 at 9:52amBesides, Viognier, this also has Chenin and Grenache Blancs. An unusual blend, and the risk pays off. There's sweet fruit and vanilla on the nose, with some toast and sesame, which I think comes from the Chenin. The flavors round each other out nicely. Would be great with food!

Lists: Not Just Bad, Worse
Added Apr 2, 2012 at 9:48amGet a load of the legs on this wine! Whopping 15.1% alcohol and it shows. Very fruity, perfumey and deliberate. Needs some taming.

Lists: Adoration for Alto Adige
Added Apr 1, 2012 at 2:56pmBright and brambly with focused minerality and a hint of smoke. While it has the characteristic Lagrein floral aromas, these are a bit laid back here. Really excellent food wine, especially with cheeses and charcuterie.

Pinot Bianco Terlan 2008
Lists: Fun and Funky Whites, Aromatic Whites, Adoration for Alto Adige, Favorite Italian (That's My Amore)
Added Mar 29, 2012 at 9:30amRounded and rich style, with warm golden fruit flavors and a honeyed finish. A whiff of honeysuckle aromatics seal the deal. Goes surprisingly well with black olives!
