    Alleigh's Review:

It had a deep ruby color, with a garnet rim and big legs. On the nose, I was hit with barnyard and Band-Aid aromas, which make me think the wine had a bit of a Brett problem. That said, those aromas weren't so overpowering as to be unpleasant. Following those smells, there was a nice mix of raspberry, black cherry, blackberry, along with something herbaceous and a touch of lead pencil. In the mouth, the wine was much fruiter, with all black fruit flavors- blackberry, blackcurrant, and black cherry. Following the fruits were dusty, meaty flavors, with only a touch of the barnyard and herbaceousness that was on the nose. For my full review of this wine, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/WJBpZ.

    Alleigh's Review:

The 2008 Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc was a clear, light-to-medium lemon color and had slow forming legs. On the nose, the wine had nice, classic New Zealand SB aromas-green bell peppers and green apples-followed by some pineapple and a touch of fresh cut grass. In the mouth, the green peppers were the most pronounced, but blended nicely with the granny smith apple and pineapple flavors. There were also very light gooseberry and grass flavors. The wine was had a crisp acidity that was well balanced with the alcohol and body, which made for a refreshing and enjoyable Sauvignon Blanc. The 2005 Querceto Chianti Classico was made at Castello di Querceto and was a blend of 92% Sangiovese grapes and 8% Canaiolo grapes that have aged in casks for 10-12 months. The wine was a medium-to-deep ruby color, with flecks of garnet starting to appear on the rim. On the nose, I found blackberry, black cherry, and hints of cedar and powdered cocoa. In the mouth, the cedar was more pronounced than on the nose, but the black fruits still dominated. The wine was well balanced, with nice acidity and tannins. The 2007 Edna Valley Pinot Noir (vineyard, snooth) was a medium ruby color and had rapidly forming legs. On the nose, there were cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate aromas mixed with a variety of cooking spices-mostly cloves, nutmeg, and vanilla. This Pinot Noir kept asking to be smelled because the fruits and spices blended so beautifully. In the mouth, the fruit and spice flavors were bold and very similar in character. The medium tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body made for a nice overall balance. For my complete review, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/PJPYJ

The 2007 Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc is 89% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, 7% Semillon grapes, and 4% Sauvignon Musque grapes. The wine was a pale-to-medium lemon color with very visible legs. On the nose, I found strong lime aromas, followed by pink grapefruit and mineral. In the mouth, the strong lime flavors matched the lime aromas on the nose, and they were followed with grapefruit, very ripe kiwi, and honeydew. There was also a slight hint of something floral on the finish. For my complete review, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/Inh11

The 2006 Silver Chardonnay is a medium lemon color, with some green flecks that speak to its relative youth. On the nose, there was a delicious and unusual combination of aromas. Citrus (lemon and lime) and green fruit aromas (apple and pear) dominated, but they were met with a hint of tropical fruit scents (pineapple). There was also a nice minerality mixed in with the fruits. In the mouth, there were strong lime flavors that were moderated by mango and pineapple flavors. There was also a hint of wet stone. The wine had a nice acidity and alcohol, with a fairly long finish. For my complete review, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/V1LxA

    Alleigh's Review:

The 2008 Torbreck Cuvee Juveniles was a medium purplish ruby with very noticeable legs.On the nose, there were luscious, ripe red fruits-strawberries and raspberries-followed by a hint of cinnamon. In the mouth, the first taste had an initial surprise of hotness, after which juicy red fruits-strawberries, raspberries, and cherries-emerged, followed by a touch of white pepper and cinnamon. The wine had lower tannins and acid, which makes it nice and light. On the second night with this wine, the Cuvee Juveniles was more jammy than juicy, and the raspberries were more prominent than the strawberries. Alleigh's Review:

a beautiful pale gold color, and big, drippy legs. The wine had a nice, smooth complexity. On the nose, I found peach, green apples, and a touch of lime and coconut. In the mouth, there was buttery peach, green apples, and pineapple, with a touch of blossoms and honey. The wine was oaky and beautiful, with a well-balanced flavor. The Singing Gruner Veltliner was a clear lemony yellow. The wine had fresh, wet stone aromas that were followed by hints of green apples and green grapes. In the mouth, the wine had very minerally flavors, with only a touch of fruitiness-some apricots, along with the green apples and green grapes I found on the nose. A crisp acidity played well with the dryness and the alcohol to give the wine a pleasant balance. The flavors lingered in the mouth a little longer than I expected, particularly because the wine was so light. For my complete review of this wine, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/umI74

  • Alleigh's Review:

The wine had a luscious, deep purple color and very visible legs. On the nose, there was an abundance of black fruit and baking spices aromas-mostly all-spice and cinnamon. There was also just the slightest hint of vanilla. In the mouth, the black fruit flavors took a back seat to the spice cabinet, with nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla being the most prominent. As the flavors lingered, a toastiness emerged to round out and bind the flavors together. For the rest of my review of this wine, visit my blog http://bit.ly/110lBO
