2 Four Vines Sophisticate Sonoma County Zinfandel California Sonoma Tietje Christian (2009)
Comments: The way the fresh fruits (blackberry, raspberry), cocoa, warm spice and acidity dance together is sophisticated indeed. We're talking full on ball gowns, tux and tales, string quartet here. Luckily it's not priced for such an affair because I want to drink this again!

3 Four Vines Zinfandel Paso Robles Biker (2009)
Comments: Another great one from Four Vines. They certainly know how to make the fruits and spices balance out with the perfect amount of acidity. This has less cocoa flavors than the Sophisticate, more about the fruit. I'd love to try this with a slight chill.

4 Dash Nobility Late Harvest Riesling Blanc (2006)
Comments: Bright raspberry, violet and pinecone with almost a grape soda kind of flavor to it. But this was a refreshing note, rather than something too candylike and cloying. Balanced acidity and tannic structure. Would love this with some barbecued ribs!

5 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Howell Mountain (1982)
Comments: Surprisingly still full of life for the first hour it was opened. Tart berry fruit and spice fighting for survival on the palate and nose. Started to die out, but very fun to drink while it lasted. Sure it was amazing in its prime.
