4. Chateau de Brau Cabardes (2011)

Previously available for $20.58
20% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 25% Syrah, 25% Grenache Earthy and spicy and immediately attractive on the nose with its complex blend of tobacco, carob, tomato leaf, stone and peppery red fruit aromas. Smooth and polished on entry, this is very well balanced if a little too supple for me, but still it's a delightful wine in the mouth. The flavors are restrained and show some of the fine herbaceousness of the nose but with decidedly more of a fruity, plummy, strawberry and black berry toned profile. There are no edges here, and added complexity emerges on the backend with nuanced notes of dried herbs and salty stones adding additional detail. very friendly yet this remains quite vinous. A real find at the price and a wine worth stocking up on. 87pts

Sometimes a wine strikes you in a way that is not terribly easy to capture in a simple string of adjectives, which also would get more than it's share of complaints. there's no winning here, and if you don't find wines sometimes evocative, than I fear you're missing out.
